Mammoth Motocross

Post by Tony el Tigre »

Hey everyone! Here's my attempt at making Mammoth Motocross. The layout is based on the 2011 layout, but the track layout hasn't changed much since then, so it's pretty similar to now. The environment of the track is suppose to feel pre-race day, which explains why there's no banners. This is my first time replicating a track, and also my first motocross track in a long time (Usually known for my EX tracks). Criticism is heavily welcomed, just don't be a jerk haha. I wanna know what area's I should improve in to make my future tracks better.
Little notes - Careful when riding near the fences, they have weird collision. You'll see that there's not that many ruts, that's how the track is in real life (at least from the GoPro's)

Big thanks to
rF track making crew for the Washougal objects and decals
DJ for shadow tutorial
Hagg for finish line banner
cpt_Slow for the fences
Twister Best for the bleachers
Zack L. for height data
Jeremy C. for track map
People that beta tested the track
and JLV for the amazing game

Enjoy!

Could be a lot better, but it's a pretty good base.

Don't get me wrong you make good EX tracks! But this one felt like it was missing a lot of elements that Mammoth is known for. (Trees on insides of turns, with the huge pads attached to them so you don't get killed by those giant trees out there  , darker dirt, more elevation and off cambers) the layout was good but if it was refined and you added some spectators... you didn't want banners I can see, but if you did add them then it would have that race day feel because the track only opens for the race once a year. A lot more trees and A LOT more bushes too! And the finish line table was way too big, needs to be shorter and more rolled out. That's all I can think of right now!

Haha, thank you for the very in depth review. I do agree that I should of put the tree's closer to the track, but there's no pad on trees in MXS so couldn't really do anything about that. Not sure about making it more elevated since I used the height data and from watching Go Pro's it looked pretty similar. Never been to the track so I wouldn't know the exact feel, to far north haha. I used the ortho to place the trees, but I could have missed some trees on accident, which explains the tress issue. I could not find any good bushes so sorry about that!

So IMO the breaking bumps where to small and pointy, and to make a track fun when theres no jumps is rut choice's. I think run about 15 laps with millville erode at like 50 then smoothed out would be good for this track.

Ah ok, doesn't make me feel mad, if that's what you're saying. But I guess mine is a better version (kinda) in comparison to that one...
