More editor suggestions

Post by barrington314 »

Flaggers:
Make this more like placing billboards while in editor. And maybe even make it so that there is an "assign gates" box where you can enter what timing gates that flagger is assigned to.
Finish flagger also able to wave a yellow flag.

Statues:
Set heights of statues while in editor. More precise than the slider bar that can be used for billboards.
Ability to select and move more than 1 statue at once.
Show name of currently selected statue.

Decals:
Show the name of currently selected decal.

Timing Gates:
A solution for split sections.

Thats all I have for now.

I got a solution to split section jlv.

What if in the timing gates file we wrote it like this

First lap:
1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, 6 or 7, 8
Normal lap:
2, 3, 4 or 5, 6 or 7, 8

You probably can see what I did but.....

The ',' separates the order of the gates and the word 'or' simply suggests you can go through either gate. Would love to provide a stunning photograph of my concept but not on my computer currently, soz babe

no... theres not one flagger option inside editor.

I feel like anything that cant be set ingame (flaggers (and related gates) cant be set, cameras cant be set, etc) i dont see why they cant be placed like billboards along with a slider to change height/scale.

Also. there should be a slider, but next to it an editable text box to input an exact height for cameras, flaggers, billboards, statues, etc.

I'd probably just use "1 2 3 4|5 6|7 8", but that would be the easiest way to do it.

Not in it, can't place objects either. Something I would much rather have.

I like your suggestions Barrington! I'd like to see something like this in the editor for making it easier to level up hill turns and such. Also, because I suck at explaining, I just made a picture of what I want and hopefully it explains enough. Hopefully this isn't too hard to implement into the game.. :)

Oh, and another thing I would like to add to my idea is that you could manually set the length of a gradient line.

Being able to delete a group of "dots" at the same time when using the gradient editor. Clicking on "set to terrain" and seeing a shitload of dots to delete is definitely one of the most annoying things in the editor.

+1. Have wanted to suggest this before as well but really cant think of how this could be achieved.

They were all reasonable requests. Not much to comment on.

Would it not be possible to make duplicating timing gates a thing? If two timing gates have the same number, I'd think you's get the same effect as the "4|5" thing

ctrl + click on all the dots you want to remove and drag them to the left/right like if there was only one dot selected. Or pressing M like on the decals.... Whatever is easier for JLV to code.
