INFORMATIONS

When we announced the new website in 2012, not in our wildest dreams did we think that, 4 years later, we would have already reached more than 3000 members. We at EMF have reached this point while always striving to improve the experience of our users and their enjoyment in playing MXS. Through offering services such as our MxSimGameServers – which allow server owners to host their own series – to smaller items, like the addition of race statistics and the recognizable forum signature provided to every EMF account holder, we have worked hard to become a pillar of the MX Sim community.

Our main goal at EMF over these past 4 years has been to provide professionalism and structure to the official European MXS racing scene, as our colleagues at rF have done in America. The pursuit of this major goal has led to a number of things that are now at the core of EMF racing, such as the formalizing of official race numbers and a concerted effort to showcase races via streaming broadcasts. Most recently, the revival of our own World MXSGP series – which featured 13 rounds of newly created tracks built by our awesome crew – brought about a resurgence in enthusiasm toward GP racing within our community.

2016 was a fantastic year for us at EMF, but more importantly, it was a great year for the European MXS community. It was not without hard work that such a successful year was had, much of which is completed behind the scenes, out of the public eye. With that in mind, and in an effort to provide the best experience possible for all of our racers, we feel it is time to take the next step in the evolution of EMF for racing in 2017.

1st BIG CHANGE - Membership fee

We have determined that, in order to provide the highest quality racing possible, the system can no longer remain free of charge – that is an approach we have tried over the past few years with underwhelming results.
This decision was not taken lightly, nor was it made without a significant amount of discussion and consideration.
After a last minute decision to withdraw charging a fee to race in 2016 – which had been originally planned – we were able to closely monitor the system adopted by rF during the 2016 Outdoor National series.
Amongst other things, this provided us with a great opportunity to see how such a system played out for racers, and served as a major source of information which helped to inform our plans for 2017.
Beyond the major overriding desire to improve the quality of racing in EMF, we have a few other goals in mind with the implementation of this system.
To us, these ideas are simple and straight forward.
The primary aim of this system is to give back to the guys who work so hard behind the scenes and make these series possible – the track makers. This group spends a significant amount of time at their computers, working countless hours on tracks for the benefit of the community, often instead of spending time with friends and family. We feel that these guys, who sacrifice for the greater good of EMF and the MXS community, deserve to be rewarded for their efforts.
In a pursuit to create the most excited racing experience possible – both for those racing and watching – the second goal of the membership fee is to create the single largest prize pool ever offered in MXS. Casual players need not worry, winnings from this prize pool will not be limited only to race and series winners, as we will be creating challenges that will allow all racers an opportunity to compete for rewards.
The third and final goal in mind with charging a membership fee is to ease the strain of administrative costs and reward the efforts of other’s involved in making these races possible. This includes things like website and server costs, as well as contributing to race admins, hosts, and media contributors (streamers, video makers, e.g.).
While our overall desire is to create a cleaner, smarter racing experience, this does not have any impact on racing rules and regulations for 2017.
The rules system which will remain in place this year will not be more lenient nor more penal that it has been in the past, which we hope will lead to racers behaving in a more appropriate, respectful manner on and off the track.
With all of this said, our membership system will offer a few options in an effort to best fit the individual needs of every racer.
These three options include: 1) Full season pass (SX & MXSGP); 2) SX only pass, and; 3) MXSGP only pass. Additionally, the season pass may include some special “1-off” events over the year, which will be determined at a later date.
More information regarding the EMF membership fee is available on the website. Please be aware that you will need to register for one of the 2017 EMF passes before being able to choose your official number (the top 99 numbers based on last year ranking are attributed automatically).

2nd BIG CHANGE - New license: "Pro"

This is a smaller change, and was the final step for structuring the license portion of the EMF website. A new "Pro" license has been created, and what was previously the "A" license is now the new "Semi Pro" license.
No changes have been made in regards to the "Amat" license.
If you have already been designated for an official race number for 2017, a “Pro” license will automatically be assigned.
Racers who do not fall into this category but wish to have a “Pro” license, and have a “Pro” license for rF racing, may request to have this license assigned.
Racers who scored 25 points in any official amateur series will be assigned an "A" license, which will make those racers eligible to participate in both amateur and pro races.

Formal structure for 2017 race classes and licensing is as follows:
Pro class = "Pro" and "A" licenses are eligible to sign up
Amateur class = "A" and "Amat" licenses are eligible to sign up
**Special rule = if you have "A" license and choose to race in the pro class for any given round, you ARE NOT eligible to race the amat class at that same round.**

ADDITIONAL CHANGES

- More classes and more chances to race
With the implementation of a membership fee, we want to provide ample opportunities for all members to race – not just those who qualify for the major classes. To that end, we have added a 3rd class for the amateur night, 125cc only. The addition of this class is done with the real “beginner” to the game in mind, or the guys who are not able to qualify into the SX1 Amat/SX2 Amat classes.
Finally, we will also run a main event "B" for the guys outside of the top 40 in qualifying. These “B” mains will include racers qualifying from 40th to 62th place in SX, and from 40th to 80th in MXSGP.

- Schedule changes
An entire evening of racing will now be dedicated to Amateur events, with complete racing schedules, and take place the day following Pro events.
We will now run class by class without alternation so that racers will not be forced to watch other classes while they wait for their races. This structure will include separate UID Grabs for each class.
Example for SX :
SX2 Pro (9pm-10pm) UID grab-->heat1-->heat2-->lcq-->mainevent
SX1 Pro (10pm-11pm) UID grab-->heat1-->heat2-->lcq-->mainevent
Example for MXSGP:
MX2 Pro (9pm-10pm) UID grab-->moto1-->moto2
MX1 Pro (10pm-11pm) UID grab-->moto1-->moto2

- More prizes
As previously mentioned, the addition of a membership fee will allow us to set a big prize for all our official series next year. The current plan is to award the top 10 for Pro classes, and the top 7 of Amateur classes (the final amount will depend on the amount of players). In addition to this, we'll set some specific challenges to let everyone a chance to win.

- Demos backup
In a recent snapshot, JLV (thanks to him) has included a feature which allows demos to be backed up directly onto race servers.
Because of this additional feature, race demos will be directly downloadable after each race and remain available for years.

All information regarding membership fees is available here

- Who's admin?
Yohann Mayer: owner, webmaster, forum moderator, protest reviewer, support
Maxime Tison: main admin, forum moderator, protest reviewer, support
Kristoffer Wenerklang: streamer, forum moderator, protest reviewer, support
Bruno Gouttesoulard: race host (Pro classes), protest reviewer

CONCLUSION:

We want to thank each and every player who has supported us over the past 4 years. We also want to thank the whole EMF trackmaking crew for making the return of MXSGP tracks on MxSimulator possible, as well as the entire rF crew
for all they have done for the game and it’s community – and for their immense support of EMF. Last but certainly not least, we need to thank the man without whom none of this would be possible: JLV.
A huge shout-out to Yohann, Maxime, Kristoffer and Bruno for making this happen.
We hope these changes will take the EMF platform to the next level and improve the racing experience for all of our members.
We wish all of you a happy new year and look forward to seeing everyone on January 8th at Anaheim I to kick off what is sure to be a historic year of EMF racing.

The EMF crew.

i don't mind the idea of paying for the GP series but to make us pay for the RF supercross tracks that will be free? im sure it dosen't take that much effort to host it. im still going to buy it obviously but thought i would say.

and isnt 25 points a bit low for a A licence its not that hard to score to be able to get into pro races somthing like 2 or 3 podiums in AMs would show you are somwhat fast.

No, we thought it would be fun to put a lot of time into setting up an entire year's race schedule just for fun.... :mrgreen:

I think you answered that one for yourself. Races/tracks should be held as scheduled, barring unforeseen circumstances.

The licensing changes were made in an effort to increase the amount of guys lining up for Pro races.
