Erode lag or not? Post your hardware specs/settings

Post by Wahlamt »

Hey!

Since there is some people who seems to have a much harder time dealing with erode than others, I was thinking that if we post our hardware specs as well as our ingame settings, we might be able to pinpoint to one thing or another that is more often than not causing problems?

Either way, here is a form to as base:

Lag/smooth: Try to give examples here, if it lags, when it lags and how it affects you. If you have 2 races on the same track, same amount of riders, comparisons with FPS or something, that would help too.

Graphics card: GTX980ti
CPU: Intel i5 4690k
RAM: 8GB
V-Sync: Off

In game settings:

Hope everyone can see the point of making this post and that everyone wants to help out, in order for everyone to be having a great 2018 season.

i5 6600k, EVGA 980 ti 6gb, 16gb ram

I raced the EMF test race on similar settings you posted (if not the exact settings) and was dropping to 111fps prob every lap. Also couldnt pinpoint what actually causes the fps to drop.
I've always had problems with gnarly frame skips (refer to video below) and erode definitely makes the chances of this happening higher which is unfortunate because as you can see it never usually ends well.

I've only ridden once with erode and it was in Nate's server with the SYS guys, and my ping was fine and my fps was averaging 111-125 like normal, but it just felt jittery... I wasn't able to hit rhythm sections cleanly because my game felt as if I was running 80 fps or so even though it was 125. I can't pinpoint what exactly caused it, but it was tough to play. It wasn't unplayable, just jittery enough to make you inconsistent. I've been asking if there's servers with erode currently being used, but haven't gotten a response from anyone yet.

Ever since the last erode performance update Jlv did I've gotten 125 solid in normal erode races (Less than 25 riders and erode 1-5).
I'm not sure if people know but changing your Nvidia control panel settings can help a lot with gaining more fps, My old computer used to take a dump if I had the control panel settings maxed.
I got 125 solid during the emf erode test race while streaming at 720p/45fps as seen here.

And that terrain is 4x the size of official sx tracks.

Do you mind sharing what settings you think is optimal for mxs?

Yeah it feels like control panel settings have far more impact on game performance than the actual in game settings.

The first 2 are control panel settings and the last one is Nvidia Inspector.

I just tried erode in the flowtech server with about 10 people in there and same thing, 125 fps but the game wasn't running smoothly. So weird!

Make sure you don't play sim with Shadow play on (If you have it), Sometimes it works fine but sometimes mine makes my game feel like Vsync is on.

FPS isn't the issue, its just not running smoothly. It's weird I wouldn't know what it is.
