Upcoming Models #2
Re: Upcoming Models #2
It's a very unnecessary, wasteful way of doing so, as far as performance and file size are concerned.
Re: Upcoming Models #2
I made is smaller beofre and the quality of the googgles significantly dropped. Even this this is the 100% goggles. The same. https://gyazo.com/3faa8326c7548be2c80704bce562b472T-RIDER wrote:It's a very unnecessary, wasteful way of doing so, as far as performance and file size are concerned.

Re: Upcoming Models #2
One thing I noticed on most MXSim Models is that their creators have zero to no idea how to make an efficent UV map.MOTOZ293 wrote:I made it smaller before and the quality of the googles significantly dropped.
Another thing is, that pretty much everyone uses crappy quality logos, the wrong Photoshop Tools to keep the quality and last but not least instead of making their own metal/plastic textures, they just take stuff off of Google.
You can have a very small UV map, (in the case of a Helmet, 2048x1024 is the perfect size in my opinion) but still have a better Quality than someone else with a crappy 4096x4096 UV map. The key is to make the main parts as big and even as possible. If you need help and advice just message me, I think I'm pretty good at UV mapping.

I've always been curious on what tools to use, and not to use in PS. I feel like all my stuff is okay, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong and it could be better.Andy_Hack wrote:the wrong Photoshop Tools to keep the quality

Way too many people use the lasso tool instead of the pen tool to create shapes in photoshop. The only time the lasso tool should be used is to make selections, but even then you can do that with the pen tool.
Re: Upcoming Models #2
No, you need the extra texel quality for when you're in first person smh.Jeremy150 wrote:Why would you have the goggles take up half of the UV space? There's plenty of room to fit the goggles on the original template...
On a side note, I often do that (extend UV's), you probably could have just unwrapped the goggles a bit better instead tbh. Although, it's better than taking a 2048x2048 bike skin and making it 4096x4096 because your dual exhausts don't look good in the single exhaust UV space..............
