Re: Demo Splicer
I am pretty sure that demo splicing became impossible when the demo system was updated to save more information like chat logs.

Re: Demo Splicer
First go to nodejs.org and install node.js. Then you'd run it like this:
/path/where/node/is/installed/node demosplice.js demo1.mxdemo demo2.mxdemo -o spliced.mxdemo
(Obviously, you have to use the actual path where node.js is installed rather than /path/where/node/js/is/installed.)
/path/where/node/is/installed/node demosplice.js demo1.mxdemo demo2.mxdemo -o spliced.mxdemo
(Obviously, you have to use the actual path where node.js is installed rather than /path/where/node/js/is/installed.)

Re: Demo Splicer
Thanks a ton, for helping the few of us who still demosplice!! Welp, I guess I won't be needing to temporarily downgrade to 1.9 on occasion, and can once again stick to the same version for online and offline!!jlv wrote:First go to nodejs.org and install node.js. Then you'd run it like this:

Re: Demo Splicer
Hi JLV, just found this script, does it still work ?jlv wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 1:06 am Here's an updated script. You need node.js to run it.

I saw in the code that there's something to delete message and no-sync, do you still remember the syntax of these commands ?
Do you know if it is possible with this script to cut a demo like this old command ?

Re: Demo Splicer
I haven't used it lately but it should still work. Unfortunately there is no cut option in the new version.Vojda wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 12:36 amHi JLV, just found this script, does it still work ?jlv wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 1:06 am Here's an updated script. You need node.js to run it.

Re: Demo Splicer
It's a bit more difficult with the newer demo format. It was easy with the old format because it just stored all the positions on every game step which made it easy to calculate the file position to cut at. The new format is smaller but it's more complicated to figure out which parts are for what time.
