I own a 450f, a 250f, and I have ridden 250 two strokes, 125 two strokes, 85 two strokes and I started on an 65 way back when. Been riding two strokes my whole life.

This isn't a discussion about fun, shit, i could have fun riding around on a kx 60 all day. This about a 250 two stroke racing against 450 four strokes.

Read my original post guy...
DJD wrote:Honestly, compared to 450's...250 two-strokes suck. In real life and Mxs.
You think its a coincidence that two strokes are virtually absent from professional events? You think its a coincidence that nearly all major manufacturers discontinued their 250 two strokes?

You think its a coincidence that major two stroke development has stopped? Modern 450's are superior to 250 two strokes in virtually every way.

If you think otherwise, you're just in some serious denial.
Yeah your right it is a coincidence, a coincidence that happens to be honda has alot of money. Exactly your comparing MODERN 450's to old technology 6 year old 250 2t's, and guess what the 2t is still competitive. I think it's enough of an argument to say that a 4t needs nearly twice the displacement to compete all these years later says it all. I'm not a 2 stroke humper and I own both but to say 2 strokers are dead is completely bias.

With 125 vs 250f and 250 vs 450f rules, the two strokes make less power at every point on the curve. That doesn't mean they're worse technology as they obviously have a way better power to weight ratio, it just means they've been handicapped into oblivion.

Exactly what I was getting at haha:P If you were to compare a modern 250 2t that was up to date and pursued as much as 450 technology is then you'd see a whole different set dyno charts. They are extremely handicapped and under appreiciated in the world of motorcross, but they are making a comeback. IMO 2t will always be the performance machine as compared to 4t. You can't really compare different engine sizes such as 250 v. 450 because it's not fair, in reality though a 250f vs. a 250 2t the 250t makes more power. I know they are very similar because of the technology they've come up with in 250f's in the past years but they should be compared that way, same engine vs same engine. Just my oppinion on the ways of the world but it is rumoured that Kawasaki and Suzuki are getting back into 2t's (In NA anyways for Suzuki) and they want to make a 125 and 250 with EFI and modernized suspension. If they do it will be legendary but wont be for at least 3 years.

I don't know. The 4-strokes are so much easier to ride, which raises the sales, so I don't think we'll see the rise of two-strokes for a long time.

They're like those people that are always talking like "we should come back to the music of the 80s". I'm sorry but 2-strokes are better. Ride a 2005 2-stroke bike, then ride a 2005 4-stroke bike. At that time, brands were developing both of them and, guess what, 4-strokes were better

Contradict yourself much? I don't really care about this debate I'll make fun pf either side. I picked 4 bangers but I wouldn't say no to a 2012 KTM 250

will somebody just post the recent vid of stewy riding a 250 around..? he was talking about how you think your going fast on a 2 stroke but your really not.. there are more and more pros and freestyle guys talking about how 4 strokes are just better all around.. but like my grandpa still thinks the modal T is the best car ever made its kind of the same mentality in some people... just wont let go,, and to the guy saying we don't know how to ride a 2 stroke.. maybe your just scared to ride a 450??

The 300cc 2 stroke compared to a 840cc 4stroke! That's how much power they cranked out of this bike and it barely weighed 200lbs. You couldn't in your wildest dreams make an 840cc 4t for 200 lbs.
Pretty sure the 450cc limitation was put in place in 2011. A 300cc 2-stroke having more power than a 450cc 4-stroke is nothing special.

Not even close to true. A bike cannot simply be "better". It can be better for an individual person, but cannot just be "better".

In Australia they have changed the rule so it is 250 4-stroke vs 250 2-stroke for the lites and up to 450cc any stroke for motocross class. so im riding a 250-2
