Sounds like I need to come up with a better test to detect upscaled textures. As a workaround, try adding a single pixel that has around 10 percent contrast with its neighbors.

Re: Skybox Upper Quality Issue

Are you getting any messages that say "sky-u.png reduced to 64x64"? For whatever reason people will make 4k textures that are one solid color, so the game tries to optimize those down to a less stupid size. If your texture is really close to being all the same color it might be incorrectly downscali...

Re: Any OGs still around?

I'll have to have Google lady say that to me tomorrow lol. It hurt just trying to stumble through that dry shit. I'll try to translate... I first implemented stencil shadow volumes over two years ago in the post-Q2 research period. They looked great until you flew the viewpoint into one of ...

Re: Ryzen 5900X

There's nothing wrong with that CPU. There was someone having micro stutter issues with a 5000 series Ryzen a while ago but it was never clear that it was the CPU's fault.

Re: Any OGs still around?

Ah, oops. Well both points still stand. Carmack=legend and inverse square root trick=super clever 😅 His number one talent is timing. Throughout the 90's his games were in perfect sync with what mainstream hardware could do. That is way harder to do than it sounds. IMO his most clever trick is Carma...

Re: supercross track help me plzzz

I believe the first round serves as the object pack in the recent SX series tracks. So make sure you have that installed or you'll be missing objects in the other tracks and get track modified errors.

There was a report that you don't have permission to distribute what you based this on so I've removed the link.

Re: Any OGs still around?

Carmack is an absolute legend. The inverse square root still gets me every time I see it 😅. I read something about it’s origin not too far back. The inverse square root trick is not his invention. I wrote one for Mesa 20 years ago and I based that one off of old newsgroup posts by Vesa Karvonen and...

Re: JLV PLZ CONFIRM

It's definitely unrealistically strong. It'd be real hard to put more than a couple hundred pounds of torque into the handlebars. Would you ever consider revamping the advanced stability settings to a narrower range of more realistic values? I would worry about people complaining in the short term ...

Re: JLV PLZ CONFIRM

I've actually been thinking about asking you something for awhile. I think we are too used to the settings we have access too, so taking them away would cause chaos, but I think some of the values in the advanced stability and rider vert/forward settings could be reduced in terms of their max value...

Re: saving issues

Make sure you exit via the game's menu. It should close cleanly when you close the window, but if Windows decides to terminate the process for some reason it won't get a chance to save the config. If that's not it, try deleting your config file in "%localappdata%\MX Simulator" to reset the file perm...
