Laptop help/advice

I'm looking to get MXS soon and also need to get a laptop soon for university but i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to things like this. I'll be on windows 7 and i'm not going to go insane with a really expensive laptop but it wont be a really cheap one either.

Whats the deal with 32 and 64 bit? I've read that 64 bit is better for more memory but dont have a clue how that will relate to playing mxs. My pc at the moment is getting on a bit and doesnt play the demo particularly well but i know its 32 bit. Will 64 bit affect the way i use the laptop normally for word processing etc?

Also 4gb or 6b of ram? I most likely wont be playing mxs online but i surf the internet a lot and have lots of tabs open at the same time and i hate it when the internet runs slowly.

Keeping in mind its a lap top what sort of graphics cards are good or what minimum spec would i be looking for? I dont have any desire to run mxs on the highest settings but i want it to be reasonably good.

I've been looking at some Acer laptops as they were recomended to me by my dads IT technician but i need the above clarifying so that i know what to look for.

I'm in the UK and have about £500 to spend.
Any help would be really appreciated.

RAM isn't extremely important: I couldn't imagine you using more than 4GB for pretty much any game. You'll be hard pressed to find a laptop that's not 32-bit now, 64-bit is better in pretty much every way except for compatibility. Find a few example laptops and we'll tell you if they're ok. As a general rule you're going to want at least a 2Ghz and a graphics card that is not an "Intel HD" or something. It needs to be a brand name, for example AMD/ATI or Nvdia. Anything else is an onboard graphics card and will not perform well enough for MXS.

Those would both work wonderfully. I run high settings with no AA on mine with worse stats than that, looks great and no lag!

the first one is definitely your best bet. the more memory (ram) the better from what i know. for the extra couple bucks it will be well worth it. that computer will run mx sim just fine for just online play with good graphics. for a full gate in supercross you would just have to run on a little more than half graphics with no roost should be fine. if you are just playing for fun and not super competitive with it it will work just fine.

again not an expert at all by no means.

Oh shit forgot to mention, I leave roost off. I would imagine it taking a good hit out of performance on a packed server so I leave it off, plus it doesn't even look that good.

Yeh i saw in the forum a few weeks ago to turn off the roost so thats what i did on the demo.

I just found this which looks to be the same as the second one in my previous post but it has 6gb of ram instead of 4gb. I've got £130 of vouchers that i can use at this shop aswell so i might just go for this one?

that should work just as well as the ones above. screen resolution isnt the greatest but it will do just fine unless you are going into college for graphics and what not.
