SITTING OR SHIFTING?

Post by norcal_105 »

ok maybe im just not good yet but it seems that there is more function in the game then i can handle... i have been finding good advantages to either manualy sitting or shifting... but i cant seem to put the whole package together. do i need to do both or one or the other? any advice would be appreciated. thx,

i use sticky sit/dab and auto shifting. But i also have a button for upshift and downshift......because you can override the auto shifting by shifting yourself.

Think of it like an auto clutch. You can use the clutch manually or if you get tied up, it will do the work for you. Win-win in my book.

I use auto shifting, but I have been finding the ability to sit coming in handly more and more often. I now sit in 90% of corners, and can effectively seat bounce jumps, especially SX style jumps. Also helps to scrub jumps.

So I choose sit, because like you, I can only handle so much and shifting isn't something I can handle right now.

I'm going all manual. The shifting kinda comes automatically so I don't have to think about it. Also even though I sit almost all the time, I don't use the sticky dab because I'm so used to pressing the button so it would just mess things up for me. So it's pretty much what feels comfortable for you, I don't think it makes much difference in laptimes.
One additional thing most people use but I don't is the dab when stopped option. I don't like when it automatically corrects me to point the next checkpoint; it's sometimes alot faster but I just don't like it.

I used to use manual shifting and sit/dab button. When I changed my controller setup I got rid of the sit/dab (still use manual shifting), after a few good races, I didn't notice a difference between sitting and not sitting. It's all personal preference though, I suggest trying both ways to see which you like better.

i'm using auto shifting atm while i get used to everything else lol. i have sit/dab on sticky only because i sit in some corners and some jumps i sit on take off, mainly the big jumps that i cant make whilst standing.

I generally dont like sitting down much as i think the riders look stupid riding around everywhere with their elbows pointing up and their heads over the bars. looks quite dumb. if they day comes when the riders upper body moves sideways independant of the bike then i might sit down more because it would look proper.
