Handling

Post by Break. »

Hey...recently bought the full game online and started to play with a controller...Ive currently got the stability set to 80 and the bike is well hard to handle...it might just be my noobiness but i cant even get round a tight corner...if i turn...the lean indicator turns red and i end up eating shit....but without turning i'd go straight ahead?! I also understand that you cant smash round the corners at full tilt...so im crusing round most of em in 2nd and i still cant get the bike to turn enough...just end up going over the berm and crashing...also when taking off from a jump i end up nose diving straight away... im cruising up to the jump...accelerating up the face and then BAM! im nose diving?! Its like im tapping the rear brake and leaning forward...when im not...i know this is a sim but i cannot even begin to understand how to control the bike...in tight corners should i be leaning forwards while holding the dab button to get my weight over the front end? even this aint working for me...ive even tried gassing it out of the corners/sliding it into the corners with the back brake to bring the back end round but then its spits me off and i do a high side...

Are there any techniques you guys can tell me? ive watched vids and some of you guys are awesome...sorry for the long post its just really frustrating not being able to turn even slightly without falling off...

Thanks in advance.

alright dude weve all had this problem but i fixed the nose diving by turning the rear suspension like rebound and stiffness i think it is up to 100 for both and put the front suspension options down to zero. you cant turn cause your stability is on 80!!! turn it down to about 70 and like the top of the mx sim webpage says is just practice more!! :D

Also the lower the satability the trickyer it gets. It's not hold it right to go right its like tap right. As you may of found out the hard way

I'm not a 100% pro at this game but i know for flat corners you want to hit them like you are racing a street bike on a track come from the outside hit the apex and slowly get on the throttle and fly to the outside again. Try watching someone online who is really fast watch their lines, throttle, and position on the bike. I used to be on 70-80 stability now im down to 17 its all about feel and knowing the track and how far you can lay over the bike. Another key is leaning in the turns like in real life. If you keep at it you should get better but i do have to applaud the fastest guys i dont know how they do it lol they are knocking 5-10 seconds on my times.

Yeah im trying that...i raced mx for 10 years but this dont feel like it atm...for example...i cant change up gear when i lean forward?! i lean forward in the turns to get the traction over the front end...but when i do i cant change up and if i dare try and lean back on the exit and apply the slightest bit of power i high side...another thing is jumps...im still endo'ing in mid air...everythings stock...im powering up the face of the jumps...im even still gassing it in mid air to keep the rear end down but once its going i cant stop it...also..if i do the other and get my front end high applying the rear brake does nothing...on landing jumps if im not literally inch perfect the front end washes out...ive seen guys on youtube land a little off and they still land it fine...like real life...but for me its like im landing on ice...eurgh...just dunno how im supposed to learn something that atm is pretty much random physics...its an awesome game...but it still feel like im playing the demo?!

the bike doesnt dive in the air for me, it only does that if i lean back going up the jump, you should either keep your weight neutral, or sit over the front, and lean back as you pop off the lip.
as for landing sideways, the key is to point your front wheel in the direction you want to ride out of it and gas it like theres no tomorrow.
you should be able to change up gears while you are leaning forward, just make sure you dont have them mapped to the same button or something.

dude...how do you point the wheel in the direction you want to go?! i literally dont under stand it...i have 0 control over the bike in the air...none whatsoever...and i cant point the wheel coz that means the rider will lean in that direction and if he leans im off...it sounds and feels like im playing a totally different game to you guys..

hmm, the bike should be fairly stable in the air on 80 stability..
unfortunately, i think your only solution to this problem is to log up some more hours in the game.
the more you play it, the more in sync you will become with the behaviour of the bike

When you first start out with the game, do not try to do any movements in the air. Wait until you can stay upright on the ground before you try to be James Stewart

Guys...im not trying to do ANYTHING in the air...simply get over the jump and land......like i keep saying there's vids of people on youtube...(granted who may have been playing for years...and i totally appreciate that this game is going to take a while to learn...i play counterstrike and GTR Evolution...2 games which have an enormous learning curve but pay off with hours you put into em)..anyway there's vid of people landing a little off or squaring off berms ...something which i cannot do at all...im off if i ...try and turn tight...land 1 degree off straight forward...get too high on a berm...im braking for corners way too early...slowly going round in 2nd and still end up with a turning circle as big as a HGV's...its actually easier riding a real bike than it is trying to learn this game.

...i have a feeling Ive done something wrong in the setup and im still playing with the demo's physics...but then again i do have lean back/forward so maybe not...it also wont let me register for online...says its not finding my email address...when i ordered it 2 days ago and got it sent to my address?? i know im banging on but 'd appreciate some tips/advice...cheers..

Practice Practice Practice.

Don't try to do too much at first. Brake hard coming into the corners. Don't try to turn and brake. Turn your rebound up. You don't necessarily need to clutch it in the corners.

Come into a corner on the brakes, standing up, weight back. When you get to the apex, sit, move forward, roll on the gas. Once you get going straight, move to a neutral position. Just like real life.

It gets easier with practice...believe me we all had a lot of frustrating moments in the beginning too. Most of us still have frustrating moments - obviously they don't end up on the youtube videos....

I've always been curious, I wonder how many hours of footage Mittocs gathers to get 4 minutes of good youtube material??

Patience. There are so many people that just buy the game and create a thread exactly like this. Patience, practice, patience, practice.

model looks great but we have an upcoming models thread in which you can post it there. Also someone is already making the kxf250/450, no sense in having 2 of the same quality.
