JLV 's NEWS

Post by west »

Hello JLV,

I'm writing on behalf of the players of MX Simulator, who are eagerly awaiting updates.

We understand that you're running this project solo, and we truly value everything you've already implemented—like the terrain shader updates and the "treadmark" feature for visible tire tracks
.

However, many of us are wondering:

When can we expect a new official update? The most recent snapshot is from March 2025, and it only included a fix for a decal-deletion crash

What are you currently working on? Is the terrain texturing, performance optimization, or decal trail system still in development? According to forum posts from May 2023, work on terrain decal rendering was nearing completion around that time

Why has communication been so limited? We'd appreciate even small updates or rough timelines so we know the project is still active.

Are there new developments on motorcycle audio improvements? Any timelines or progress to share?

Finally, is there a chance for new official chassis such as Ducati, Triumph, or Stark? Many players have hoped for these additions for a while, and we'd love to know if there are plans for them in the near future or if they remain long-term goals.

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide—even a rough roadmap or estimated timeline would be much appreciated. We know this remains a truly independent passion project, and we’re grateful for all the work you’ve done.

All the best —
A dedicated MX Simulator player

Working on doing all shading via a high dynamic range environment map instead of directional lighting with a separate environment map pass. It's been slow going because outside issues are taking up all my time. Sorry! Once I get more time I'll be updating more frequently.

Is there ever a potential that you would bring on or hire people who are already involved in the gaming industry that could significantly help you and speed up the process for the evolution of MXS? I personally am not in any rush for 'more' development of the game, as I truly think it's just perfect as it is and keeping everything more simple allows for consistency in the way the game operates. But I just know that a lot more new people are showing up to this community, and it will only continue to grow in my opinion, and a lot of people will be looking for future development and answers.

I also am curious... and I'm just keeping it real here... If we were to ever lose you, JLV, is there something that you setup to have another human take over the ownership of MXS and keep it alive or at least running?

To end this, I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for you stranger JLV!
The Mr. Anonymous, the man, the myth, the legend of JLV.

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART for this beautiful creation of yours. ❤︎

Just in case anyone is worried, *I'm* in excellent health! My family is a different story though!

You're right about the bus factor for this game being one. I would have wanted to open source it but now I realize that would be a disaster as far as cheating goes. Definitely want to move as much as possible to open scripts.

Glad to hear you’re healthy, best wishes for your family’s health.

I think MxS could have a decent resurgence with a server browser and in game tracks, bikes, gear download system.
The forum works but these could streamline the user experience quite a bit.
Would be keen to know how difficult this would be to implement.

It's stuff like that that makes me want to get UI scripting going. It'd make that sort of thing go way faster!
