Newer Export Script for a non ancient version of blender?

Post by dioxazine- »

Hey everyone. Im just wondering if all you guys who export your own custom bike jms actually still use the old 2.79 or 2.80 blender export script.
I would like to imagine there is a new script for a newer blender version like 5.0 or somethin even if its not a official jlv script.
Excuse my ignorance if im wrong, i learned model making for MXB and on new blender versions.
Thanks Guys

I wasn't aware they broke the export scripts again. You'd think they'd be running out of new ways to break things by now!

they broke it in a couple ways according to the error codes it gives. but take it with a grain of salt because im and not sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computers. i havent seen any1 else with this issue after a couple days of searching so im really not sure if its me or the script.

I wonder if it might be a better idea to make a converter from a common format instead of endlessly chasing Blender API changes. Any suggestions for what format to use?

I would recommend just using 2.79 with the older export script honestly. Pretty much all models are set up with materials for that version that end up breaking in 2.8+, so you would have to redo all the materials in a system that is a lot more finicky than what we have in 2.79. It wouldn't be as big of a deal if we had gloss maps

It's crazy how much they break stuff with new updates. I can't even open blends from the newest version in a version only a year or two old for seemingly no reason.

This would be sick especially for people coming from MxBikes (like a lot of people such as myself are) who like making their own models but cant figure out the old versions of blender

It's a shame obj doesn't support bones. Maybe glTF although that looks like overkill.
