I just say, leave it as it is...
If you cant run the new models and skins... Dont use them... Simple.
The community will do all the work for JLV for the models and skins... there is no need for a team

Re: MXS game devolopment
With a team everything becomes unified. It becomes easier to do models and skins this way, and with everyone working together stuff gets done twice as fast. You lose creativity in a way however.

Re: MXS game devolopment
I proposed to JLV the idea of making a wiki because MXS forums are full of usefull informations but drowned under a ton of crap, put together usefull informations should be nice. He said a wiki is too much work for him and I can easily understand why.
I just looked on some free softwares like wikipad, nice tool, but I never made any online web pages or stuff like that.
I know there's some FAQ but it's a one man job too... So buddies what do you think about a wiki ?

Re: MXS game devolopment
I believe alot of good points have come out of this thread but i disagree with alot of things that were said. Ive been playing for a while now and from the first day i played it untill now it has come soooo far. My buddy had watched me play the first time i ever booted the game up. I took it off arcade .. Flopped around about 20 times like a fish out of water. Said fuck this i cant believe i spent money on it. But after about a week and an xbox360 controller i was HOOkEd. He came back to visit from california and i showed him the new tracks and models with the graphics on 10 and he was so amazed. He said if he ever gets a desktop he will forsure buy it and he doesnt even ride or race. I think tutorials will do wonders for the progression of tracks , objects and models. I can use the ingame editor only to make little tracks that arent worth releasing. I do have an interest to learn i just dont have a good enough knowledge of photoshop. I do thinn the website needs a visual upgrade. We need recent screenshots and videos to tease people. I also think the menus need work. Overall im happy with how far its come. Jlv is the shit ... Mva sucks... Mx simulator for life

I don't know about a wiki, even just a topic that links you to all of the separate tutorial forums and other tutorial topics. Might be able to merge the FAQ into it, then add things like how to change your bike sounds (things that are taught but left behind in old snapshot topics buried). Just make it very organized.totorox wrote:I proposed to JLV the idea of making a wiki because MXS forums are full of usefull informations but drowned under a ton of crap, put together usefull informations should be nice. Re: MXS game devolopment
I have read 6 pages of the post, sorry if someone has already say this, i was thinking about the stock bikes, is possible to introduce the newest or better bikes and tracks in the "stock game", i mean: when i buy the game, (with not any download from the forum or puremxs or whatever page has things for mxs) i have the 2010 yamaha, honda, glen helen, red bud, etc, of course that the creators have to decide this...
this will make the stock game friendly to people who dont know how to download or install models, skins, tracks, etc
undestand me? this is the first time i have ever wrote a big text in english

Re: MXS game devolopment
No, the tracks and bikes have the logos of real companies. If they were to be sold with the game, jlv would need a contract with the companies, which would obviously cost a lot.

Re: MXS game devolopment
but the game already has the yz/yzf, cr/crf, rm/rmz, kx/kxf in the stock game, im trying to say to use the custom bikes, like for example DJs yamahas, its only replace the old bike models for the new ones to the "stock game"

I'd much rather have the community make stuff than have fake names in game for things.

Re: MXS game devolopment
You realize that's still illegal? To get real technical, a good legal team could come after the game for having KX125, CR125, etc in the game as well. Companies license their fonts, their logos, and their abreviations... Hell, even the exact colors of the bikes can be sued for (tho a 1 number different RGB value can get around that one).VicenteBareilles#228 wrote:Sorry for double, but if they have real companny logos is really easy to make new ones for example:

Re: MXS game devolopment
You have every right to display a company's logo as long as you aren't trying to trade under their name. That doesn't mean they can't sue you anyway though.
I try to follow these cases as they come up and I haven't seen a trademark owner win one yet. The problem is just by going to court it cost everyone involved a fortune, so you end up with a situation where the trademark owners make ridiculous demands (e.g. we own that shade of yellow) and everyone abides by them to avoid going to court.

Re: MXS game devolopment
I guess i should've clarified, it gives them grounds to take you to court, which I guess is for almost anything in the US it seems. Most companies avoid any opportunities for law suits as most legal departments view the best court case is no court case or opportunity for one.jlv wrote:You have every right to display a company's logo as long as you aren't trying to trade under their name.
