Didn't know I fell into the power and control thing, last I knew I have released everything I have ever made with source files unless I was payed to make a product before hand. In which I don't and have not shown off. All I want people to realize is if they respect a creator's wishes on their work, then more than the likely the creator will respect you and will release what everyone wants. When you have such kids as seabolt and crews, which is why the topic was a created, rip things you can't honestly expect for someone to release something. I bet if everyone would have respected Andy's wishes on his kawi, let him take his time, not ripped, not leaked, and bad mouthed him for not releasing it yet, you would have your precious kawi by now.
I'm all for helping the community, I just want to make that clear. I'm not for keeping things to anyones self, hanging anything over peoples heads, or anything like that I just want to see respect and appreciation for what a creator wants to do with their work without the bitching and moaning because there is no source file, or no updates, or anything like that. I don't know, its just hard to explain the feeling of letting something you worked hard on and put pride into go to shit by some immature kids, I just can't describe how mad it makes me.
As for the facebook likes. Right there is a perfect example, ever heard of friends of friends? Getting the word out? Honestly it's a fb like, if you are to greedy to help out a creator by simply liking a facebook page, then you are what is called a leecher. What harm does it do? Your not signing your life away, your not buying anything, I don't see the problem. Look at rappers of today, with out getting the word out about them, having supporters, having fans, they would be no where today. There are people in this community that want better for themselves and want to do this as a career.

Re: Get rid of Adam Crews
How can't you know? You are being all mysterious about this secret way to stop rippers that you and Ramon have come up with. You're clearly trying to control how your work is used. I'm not implying that is a good thing or a bad thing, I am just saying its an unnecessary PITA for you. Honestly Mason, and it's not that I'm being disrespectful, I can't name one thing you've released. I just don't follow the game and models/skins that closely anymore. So I may have stepped on my dick a little bit (that's all I have to step on anyways) in saying you need to release something before you can complain that your releases are disrespected. My apologies. I bet if Andy had kept the Kawi private and not sent the template to a few friends, who in turn sent it to a few friends, who in turn.... it wouldn't have been passed around as much.
You don't strike me as the type who is here to show how much better they are than anyone else, I didn't intend to come off that way. You seem like a good kid to me from the little bit of interaction we've had on the forums. Everyone here appreciates when a template is released, and I don't think its fair of the community to demand source files. If you're going to release a bike a basic template with shading and a stock skin would be reasonably expected IMO. That's how it works in most other games. Are you talking about people making shitty skins for your pretty model/template? It's really not that big of a deal. Think about how proud they are of even their shitty work.
If I had a Phathry25 Facebook account and accepted friend requests from every MXS member I would like and share, but I don't. You would do much better for your potential career by having a healthy portfolio of artwork than by having a large facebook following, unless your intention is to do freelance work. Then I can see the benefit. You're not doing your portfolio any favors by spending time devising ways to control how people use your artwork.
I'll ask again, what do you stand to gain by having control over how people use your artwork? I know you asked what you stand to gain by releasing for a bunch of dis-respectful jerks. The answer is nothing, nobody will argue that. But you have to remember for every 1 person that is a disrespectful jerk there are 10 people that will compliment your work, and another 100 people that will be quietly appreciative. That's just how the world works.

I work hard to get my work to look the way I want it to look, there is a certain way all of us creators want our work to look like and by someone making it look like shit, it just diminishes all that hard work you put into it. I guess you can say that's the gain we get. Now this way to stop rippers that Ramon and I have thought up is both in favor of the community and the creators. It helps keep our work the way we want it to look but yet still allows the community to get basic usage out of it. Not only that but it ruins any chances of ripping. To me its a win-win and will help the community and all future creators.
Don't get me wrong here, I don't want this community to come to having just stock safs released and no templates or anything, because I will agree that it hurts the community and ruins the fun. Not only that but hurts the chances of people learning. I'm just saying if things continue the way they are don't be surprised if many creators just start doing just that.
I understand your point view and hopefully you can understand mine.
