I believe since I've been running #488 prior to 2010 that I can keep it as an MXS national number... it in fact we are following those rules. :)

Mike Alessi is grandfathered in because he was allowed to pick 800 years ago as a career number before the rules changed.
If this passes it will be the first time we've picked career numbers...

We've reserved numbers way back when in 09, I believe. I JUMPED ALL OVER 57.

I wouldn't mind this, I guess. I kind of like running #57, though, and it would be a pain for team skins if you want to have your number on your gear.

Exactly why I put it up for polling. In a way it makes things nicer for me...but yea. I actually expected more people to not like the idea...hopefully everyone understands that only 10 people will choose numbers, the rest will be assigned a number... haha

Well I'm going to let the poll keep going first to make sure that's what we'll do, but idk maybe a week?

Good thing you would have until January to get team skins sorted...

Another thing that some may not realize...
This system would only be used in the Supercross and Nationals series'. You could run whatever number you wanted in the other series' that are run throughout the year.

If this is the case, most of the top 100 numbers would be already chosen. So doing this would just be a silly waste of time. We can't allow some people, just because of who they are or how long they've been around. I have been running number 175 since I started (with a little hiatus, when I ran 17), but I would have no problem running 52 or 68 or whatever I earned. The whole point of this system is to reward guys for showing up and doing well. So, if you don't like it, go ahead and vote no. This will only be used if the poll passes, so rally the troops and fight to the finish.

Let's see... I was the 50cc, 250B, and 125AM champ of Sweenerdoodle's MNS so I will take number 9.

Kidding of course.

I really like this idea though, and it's another great excuse for me to use when my parents are wondering why I'm on the computer still.

How about we pick national numbers in ascending sequential order according to UIDs?

I like this idea, the one and only thing I object to is having the 25 point rule as I worked my ass off from the time I started the MX series (Thunder Valley) and didn't even get 25 points. I scored 14 points. I think there should be a rule like that, but have it around 10-15. That gives slow people like me the chance to get a 2 digit number.

Ugh, read the link I posted, or understand the AMA rules.

It's 25pts to maintain your permanent number. Not to earn a number.
