Re: Official Models Mod
So what your saying is we can have a folder called skins, and when it goes to load the texture it will search the persoanl folder , skins folder and the models folder untill it finds one?

Re: Official Models Mod
not really, Ive talked to checkerz(he works for rainbow) and he said they wouldnt persue. I wouldnt be to worried about it thought because we are such a small community that it doesnt make a difference. Also its not like JLV is advertising he has mva models for sale or something. That would be bad.

Re: Official Models Mod
haha, yea i was going to say something about raindbow not even reading forums about there own games much less other games but then i remembered checkers and i didnt want to offend anyone so i didnt post it.
The MVA models are nice and i like them but at the same time it would be nice to know that someone here in our community made these models and donated them to the game out of pure generosity(and maybe a place in the hall of fame

Re: Official Models Mod
Ill be making an HD rider model, Im starting on it tonight while i have nothing to do. But dont expect it any time soon because i cant rush something this big and not screw it up. Im also not sure if i can make it use the same texture the normal rider uses.rewrew421 wrote:Ok, so today i relized this hole modeling of the game to make it look better is TOTALLY out of hand. We have different people using different models all wanting to be in the same race(talking about splicing the demos) and it just gives me and DJ (mainly DJ) a head-ache.
So what ive decided to do is make an Official models pack. Since the game wont read models from the .saf file( as far as i know) then your will just have to trust that your models wont become tinker-toys for 10 year olds to rip. Below i will creat a list of the models we need for the game and a discription.
Detailed Rider Model- We need a good rider model(the one we have now is fine but can be better) that is universal. Have one version of the model with a Leatt brace and one with out but it be able to use the same skin. The one with out the Leatt brace just wont pull a texture from the spot on the rider.png file that has the Leatt. This is possible i believe. Also, in a future update JLV might make it were the helmet reads a different texture so we dont have to use the helment thats supplied with the gear.
Rider Model-
Helmets
Fox V3-DJ- http://mxsimulator.com/benchracing3/vie ... lit=helmet
661 Flight-DJ- http://mxsimulator.com/benchracing3/vie ... lmet#p3655
Shoei V-Moto-ddmx http://mxsimulator.com/benchracing3/vie ... ?f=1&t=430
Bike models- Personally i believe 1 person should do all the bike models and have all the texture files the same. If you would like to make one of the following models please do so, but i recommend we settle on a common ground for skins so we dont have 10 different templates for skins(which is were we are heading)
KX250F
KX125
CRF250
CR125
YZ250F-done-DJ- http://mxsimulator.com/benchracing3/vie ... ?f=1&t=389
YZ125
RMZ250
RM125
SX250F
SX125
What does everyone think of this? Do i have a point? Every model we have(basically) uses a different skin and i think this is maybe why people are not making skins as much anymore because nobody knows what people are using. This mod should put everyone on the same page and skinners can make skins that everyone can use. Not only will this put everyone on the same page as far as skins but when we splice demos there wont be a hectic confusion about what skins to use for what models and what not and also we will be improving the overall look of the game.

Re: Official Models Mod
i'll be looking forward to that. i made a different rider model that had more muscle and it looked good, but it added a lot of faces.
