New tracks are sick, seriously just look at them, they're works of art.

Re: Supercross Track Preferance Poll
LOL. That's the fairest comparison I have ever seen.
Besides, you're comparing Jays work to JLV's. Nobody is saying they don't like the tracks because of the visuals.

I 100% disagree that people not being happy caused a "motherload case of butt hurt to the creators".
I just went back and double checked my posts in the other thread. They were filled with either questions on specifics and/or explanations of why we'd went the routes we have gone.
The only butthurt I've seen is people trying to make an argument, and when others don't agree, they throw a hissy fit and run away.
I walked away from the other thread because it became an immature shit show, and will likely have to do the same with this one. Which sucks, because there was some good feedback going between a few people that was helping me out.
I for one welcome ANY new content being tracks, models or skins to this community because I understand that it is the only way to encourage growth. But when said content pushes a certain group of the community away due to an insufficient fun factor... well.. then we have a problem. There are about 5-8 track builders in this community that I will download anything they release and try it out, and in most cases... like it. Why? because they are just that damn good at what they do.
But...
You have to at some point take a step back and look at the way the community has evolved. There will always be newbies coming into MX Simulator.... you MUST think about the newbies and how hard the game was for you to learn and put yourself in their shoes. To build a set of tracks with only the "pro player" in mind is going to push a lot of newer people away. This is the last thing we need to happen.
Though I am no newbie to this game, I am also not on the level as some people are in terms of overall fine tuned skill and this is my fault entirely because I do have a family, fulltime job, and other things outside my computer room that keep me from coming in here and sitting down for hours on end everyday to achieve that level that so many here have risen to.
This being the case I do have issues with the 2014 tracks.... I don't hate them but I can not seem to find any kind of flow when riding them. They feel awkward and frustrate me to no end and I usually exist the game and never load the track again because of it. Is this the track creators fault? No.... Is it mine? No... Its simply a case where I can't put in the time needed to acclimate myself to how they are build. So what are my alternatives? To not attempt to race any race factory races... (yes I have an A license) or neglect my real world duties for the sake of a game? Well unfortunately I have to choose not o race any RF races because I wouldn't even be able to qualify. This has removed the fun factor totally from the game as far as I am concerned. I am a hardcore Motocross and Supercross fan and to NOT be able to compete in a fantasy, virtual world race has indeed been a major letdown.
Am I saying I would light the world on fire in MX Simulator if the tracks were easier? Hell no! I'm just saying that I would like the opportunity to at least qualify and sit on the gate of a heat race for crying out loud.... But this will never happen in my situation on tracks that I can't even complete a single lap without going down at least once. Were JLV's tracks easier? Not really.... More forgiving when you made a mistake? Yes... And it is the more forgiving part that I think its the major factor in bringing the fun back to the series.
I know I just set myself up for a list of "you suck" and "its your setup" oh and my favorite... "I can ride them just fine" responses and its to be expected in a community where the bulk of the population are children but I really could care less unless you reply constructively.

Re: Supercross Track Preferance Poll
The thing is, the rF supercross tracks aren't built for the newbies. I don't know where i'm going to go with this or even if it's related with your post but. I look at the tracks as having a hierarchy of skill levels.Xtrem wrote: You have to at some point take a step back and look at the way the community has evolved. Stock tracks = Newbies
'Local' tracks (Pirulo for example) = getting better
Older nationals (2010 Redbud) = getting better again
jlv sx = If you can get these consistent and fastish, you are pretty good
newer, rougher nationals = getting better again
2014 sx = the best mxs players.
This kind of relates to real life. When you first start riding you're not going to be able to race the AMA Supercross series or even the tracks. Most of us will never reach that level because we don't have the 'natural' talent. Same as in mxs, if you don't have that special touch / way too many hours to tryhard you won't be able to race at the most elite level.

Xtrem...
You 100% called myself and the other creators out about being "butt hurt". I took a moment and went back with an open mind to see just that, only to find out it wasn't the case.
I called you on it.
You write up a reply completely ignoring that you were wrong. Perhaps it would've been a good time to say for you to admit, "oops, I was wrong."
And then you come back with this?
You'll see some pretty drastic changes over the next couple of tracks based on some of the feedback we've heard. Some may like it, some may not, but no one can deny we're trying to do our best to make things better.
While you loved JLV's tracks, I wasn't a huge fan. So as long as I'm the one spending the time building them, you'll get something different. Hopefully at some point it'll be "better" but I'm not just going to sit around building something I don't enjoy instead of challenging myself to make it better. Perhaps you could challenge yourself to do the same. Instead of dealing with something you don't care for, challenge yourself to do something better.

Showing clearly you haven't had the time or respect to even look at what is in front of you once again... I took the time to see it from your side and walk in your shoes and even ask questions and bust my ass trying to help make things better for you, but you can't read what I say before trying to throw more stones?Xtrem wrote: To build a set of tracks with only the "pro player" in mind is going to push a lot of newer people away. I'm not going to continue debating. I will give you and the community a tip. I will read, think about, and explore any well put together feedback. If you want to make a difference, be smart about your approach asking for it. The rest will just be ignored.checkerz wrote:I guess goes to your question about who is your target?
The target audience isn't just 1 person. It's the generalized community. It's a balance, we want to provide a fun experience, a realistic experience, and provide great racing... and do that for everyone from Joe C. Rider and Byron. Making things possible for Joe to get through cleanly without opening up un-realistic quads or causing 1 lined sections is beyond a challenge. I guess that's part of the frustration with replicas for me, the tracks aren't build for "me" and the fun part, the creativity isn't there either. I won't lie tho, i do get enjoyment out of it at some point - I enjoy the racing each week (watching it) and the community and what the racing series brings to the community.
The good thing about the "group" of creators is we challenge eachother, learn from eachother, and push eachother to continue improving. Those files you saw tonight were Stephen and I working on scale and trying jump shapes to make a rhythm meet those standards above. He found some stuff with scale previously that I am trying to lean towards with my tracks. I don't disagree they aren't perfect, and don't at all shy away from feedback, I know I can do better, all of us can.
... the fact is just like the other rounds, we're trying our best to bring a good track to everyone.

Re: Supercross Track Preferance Poll
This is my first year attempting (I don't have the best luck) to race the pro class. The tracks are by far the hardest sx tracks (next too SYTYKSX) I have ever ridden. Going from 13 JLV sx too 14 Sx is a huge jump in the right direction. These tracks were made to split the skill levels. So not every one could play like Tysen or Byron. I love the tracks this year, there are somethings I would change (maybe make the finish jumps boot you up a bit higher) but other than that, they are amazing.checkerz wrote:But we try to...AWood wrote:Exactly what i was gonna say. Chris, I think when AWood meant appealing, he meant how it rides.

Re: Supercross Track Preferance Poll
I've been riding in 03 a lot lately, and one thing that I absolutely appreciate is the change in traction. Now that I have something to compare it to, I realize that the last three years had ice for us to ride on. I can't hot lap because of it, which is the whole reason I started racing in 03 again. I'm slow, maybe like mid tier, possibly making and doing well in some C Class mains if we still had AMs, and I have to say these new tracks are great. At first, I wasn't too excited all because of the whoops. Then rounds 4-6 they got better, and 7 they were death again, but I think that was because of the length of them. Since Atlanta, the whoops have been spot on perfect. Indy, everything was absolutely amazing. I was proud that that track was my home track (even though I'm too slow to have gotten a chance to race). Detroit, I think the bowls on the 180s could've been better, but it was still really good. Toronto was the most fun track I've ridden so far, because of the huge lines that you can hit really nicely. Everyone says those lines are too much slower, but I don't really see it. I feel like they're pretty even. St Louis is the only one I haven't at all been able to ride, and that was because of the ruts. From the picture that you posted earlier, Chris, Houston looks sick, and I cannot wait to ride it.
