well when you calculate drag body weight extra weight due to mud i bet thats right

Think about it if 2nd gear gets you to 46 mph then think of hitting a jump on say a road or runway.....youll get some air

I mean hell ive seen car accidents going 50 mph or so and hit a pole and go air born and a car ways what 7 or 8 times as much as a bike?

Most use twos just for the way the engine works in the air, and the weight.

(i've been riding since i was 5, im now 18). Im not questioning your judgment, you definitely know what your doing, but thats a little crazy. 130 feet is fourth tapped on a 250f...ive done that too!
You are probably using sane ramps. When you use realisticly shaped jumps in the game you will get the same distances as real life. If you use a crazy 45 degree launch angle you will go farther than a typical 20-30 degree jump.

Also, 2nd gear at the redline might be a bit faster then you think:

13000 rpms
* (18/57) primary ratio
* (16/28) 2nd gear ratio
* (13/51) final ratio
* 3.14*(26/12) wheel circumference in feet
* 60 minutes in an hour
/ 5280 feet per mile
= 46.229 mph
46mph??? are u crazy? 2gear on the 250f should be about 30mph!
On my RM 250, i've hitted a freestyle ramp (9radius) 75 foot gap, full thorttle in 2gear and i land around 80feet maximum!
a 115 foot gap ramp on a freestyle competion is hitted on third gear, on a 250 2stroke!
Motocross jumps usually need more speed than freestyle ramps to get the same distance, but that depends on the radius of the jump!

and bilko and sherwood jumped on a 250f and i think they cleared the distances on the same gear as the 250 2 strokes. :wink:

hey guys, i tried to run the bike with a 11 teeth countershaft sprocket, and a 53 teeth rear sprocket and it was much more realistic. Yet, i think a 10 teeth countershaft sprocket, and a 53 rear and less 5ponnies, would be almost perfect for a 250f speed (on a stock bike 13/50) .
this bikes are too long and have to much speed, i can jump a triple in first gear! i notice that i can do the same line as bubba at the second triple on second gear and still jump it with ease, with a 11/53 ratio. the lites needed to go with much more momentum to jump that triple, and everyone (in lites class) went to the berm they couln't use the line of bubba or vp cause they'd come out short.
So cut the speed and the ponnies :wink:
What do you think?

The game track is scaled and created differently to the actual thing.

And I can't believe you questioned JLV's mathematics :lol:

event if the tracks are not exactly the same, it's impossible to jump a large triple in 1st gear, even on a 450!
jvl said that a 2nd gear at 13.000rpm = 46mph. And i think that's to much speed, and you guys said that 250f were too overpowered. :roll:

It's just redline RPM times the gear ratio. Figure it out yourself if you don't believe me.

I have a feeling it's going to be hard to convince someone who thinks more power will change what your speed is at 13,000 RPM in 2nd gear though.

As far as the jumps go, most people don't jump with the engine at the redline. They might say "I was 4th gear wide open!", but they're only at 8,000 RPM so it's not as fast as it sounds.

yes is true no one jumps with the engine at redline otherwise they'd crash.
I'm only saying that i run the gearing (11/53) that makes the bike really sort in speed. now i need to jump triples in 2nd gear, if i run at (13/51) i can jump them in 1st gear. and no one jumps a supercross triple in 1st gear right?
A 250f top speed is about 70-75mph, and i think 46mph in 2nd gear is too much speed for a 250f.
And to use the dyno charts from motorcycle usa would be better cause in real life 250f you need to carry momentum around the track, but in the game you don't it feels like a 450. you can stop right in front of a big jump give it full throttle and it's done :roll:
