I didn't post because I didn't think there was anything worthwhile being said. I would hire people if I had money to burn, or if the game had a large potential market. But neither is the case. This is a game for a niche market and if I go big I will go broke.WILSONATV wrote:Good posts guys, im glad to see something come from this. JLV please post something, id love to hear your your stand point on these topics. I think once we get this game looking professional it will really start to take off, and thats what im trying to do.

That's not a good reaction to your customers. If this is a community game, the communities thoughts should be more than worthwhile to listen to.I didn't post because I didn't think there was anything worthwhile being said.
Sure it's a niche market, but you can increase the size of your niche big time by making it more user friendly.
You want to pull over some of the MVA crowd and creators to sell more copies and increase the success of the product and community, then you should listen to people's frustrations and act on them. If you don't care about making the game more sucessful, or making the people who have already purchased the product happier, keep on looking the other way.
No one here is attacking you; everyone is trying to help. Not necessarily "hiring" people, but by encouraging you to make the game more user friendly to increase the number of community members.

You don't need to hire anyone. i would gladly do stuff for free. i'm sure there are other people that would love to do stuff for the actual game. such as the menus and physics. it needs a user interface update and that could also help to bring in more customers.

I'm not looking the other way, but I can only act on something if the request has actual information. A post that says "physics sucks, models suck, tracks suck, textures suck, hire coders modelers and skinners" is useless to me. But when someone requests something concrete I try to deliver. For example, the latest release has a brake torque adjuster. That is because triggerhappy has been sending me private messages about braking distances in the real world vs. MX Simulator. That is actual useful feedback I can do something with. Before that, Wilson asked for a lens flare and it went in the next release. Before that rewrew421 asked for suspension adjusters and I did that too. I really do respond to intelligent feedback. You want to pull over some of the MVA crowd and creators to sell more copies and increase the success of the product and community, then you should listen to people's frustrations and act on them. Right now I'm working on retexturing the tracks. If you think something's more important than that just let me know.

Re: MXS game devolopment
Yeah man, everyone's raggin on JLV about this and that, but the truth of it is, if you don't like it, then don't play it. If you can contribute (skins, tracks, models, objects, etc.), then by all means that's awesome for the community as a whole. But don't say that almost everything about this game sucks and continue to play it. JLV's a busy guy, and I'm not saying customer input isn't welcome, but he's got his own plans for his game. Leave him be.
If you were making a game, you'd make it the way you wanted, then tweak it a bit according to feedback...not a total revamp. I remember from the first time I played the Pre-2 release...Sure i knew there was work to be done, but I also saw how committed he was to making this a fun game. I personally think he made it a fun game- I can't stop playing it. Sure there's a huge learning curve (No, really lol), and I suck a** at racing, but I still enjoy the game, and I think that just because of my interaction with JLV himself, the 42 bucks was worth it.
This game's gonna progress, no doubt. But when you develop something, you always have to keep a goal in mind..I think he (JLV) is trying to do that while still trying to help everyone out with add-ons (updates). Sure, I had an idea for the volume control, and it showed up in the next update, but I'm not gonna bother him with any of my other ideas because I know he's got his own agenda.I feel like if your idea is easy enough to integrate (read: won't cost JLV a lot of time), then let it fly to him in a PM. Don't waste space on the forums, and plus you'll probably get some negative feedback by someone on here.
I feel: Let the man do his work. Help the community with tracks, skins, objects, and races. If you've got an idea that seems easy enough-go for it.
But don't harp on him about 450's, rider lean, and stuff that involves code.
Modelling? Yeah if you're good at it, give it a go. (ddmx, cpt_slow)
Skinning? Definitely (DJ,gordy)
Tracks? Everyone can make a track, and why not tinker with it.
This game's got a lot of things no other game has- mostly creator interaction/beta testing/input.
Don't take it for granted.

And sorry if it seemed like I was ranting or pissed off.
I'm not, I just think people are getting on JLV a little too much lately with these crazy requests for total overhauls.

I think this post has done what it has intended. It seems like everytime a post like this gets opened up someone always goes off, myself included. He has his own plans for this game, he knows what we want out of it. It doesn't need to be stated a million times (ie. rider lean). It's coming, eventually, even if it takes a year, but i can guarentee that i'm still going to be playing this game in a year, so i can't wait.

Re: MXS game devolopment
hey
c´mon, he´s doing his best
who other game offer you direct influence on it?
you can talk to the developer (jlv) and suggest some things to meke the game better, the custom tracks are good, not great but good in my opinnion, the bikes, yes, they suck but this can be solved, the physics, in my opinion are great, the graphics, just ok, you could implement bloom, anisotropic, antialising, and some other effects to make the game look sweeter, in other post you said theat this is not so hard to do.
thats my opinnion

Re: MXS game devolopment
i know jlv is trying his best and the game is the best by far but if he wants people to give him "concrete" facts that need to happen then i think rider lean needs to be the next update before anything. the tracks can wait imo because everyone wants rider lean so they can enjoy the game more. the basic tracks are good enough to ride now so with rider lean they will be even better and then with the new textures after rider lean it will cap it off. also jlv when you tab the back brake it takes a long time for the rear wheel to spin again, in real life this would be near enough instant and in the game this is causing bogging coming off some landings.

Don't worry rider lean is coming.
For the brakes in air, try turning the auto clutch down and pull the clutch when you brake or rev the engine past the auto clutch RPM's before you land.

Re: MXS game devolopment
Hey Mace-X, my graphics card driver, which is software called ATI Catalyst Control Centre, allows me to override the game settings for anti-aliasing and anisotropic, and with good results (very good, except as you all know, my computer sucks, so the frame rate drops significantly with it on). You should see if your graphics driver has any software that allows this.
