most things that ae private as in wilsons 09 crf250 just got passed around he didnt give it to certain people yes maybe to beta but they got out of handCheckerz448 wrote:so... they are good enough to give to some people, but not good enough to release? Yup, not buying it. Now I can understand putting it on the forum as a download and not on Pure and stating it isn't up to your quality.hvpunk62 wrote:Dude some things arnt released for reasons..models because rthe creator isnt happy with them skin, etc
In the end, it's up to the creator, but I'm still saying the creators should step back and look at this from a different view.

I think that its cool if people want to make skins for themselves. And if they don't want to release its they're choice. I also don't think this topic will change anything.

hahaha what a fail topic. jlv would never ban someone for having a private skin. You obviously are jealous because you get little to no private skins, which I'm sure sucks, BUT it is the creators decision on who he or she wants to have it so he can do what ever he wants with the skin/model. If you want skins that are private then skin then yourself.

I already have the best skin/model in the game. (DJ's 2010 YZF)
What i dont like is when people post screenshots of models/skins/tracks that are never released that is just being a dick.
I just want to have a complete set of models that are high poly thats all i want

Well, if I have to share "everything" and not allowed to have private stuff, I will just stop making anything for this game. Ever stop to think that maybe some of that "private" stuff was NOT good enough for public release? creators get better by constantly making things, they should never be required to make everything they make "public", thats just ridiculous MX196.

Good points on both sides of the arguments, but the whole reason behind this topic is jealousy- which is a stupid reason to get the whole community to reply to a topic. Face it, this topic won't change anyone's opinions.

I'm happy some creators decided to release some top notch tracks and skins and not be selfish about it. How is the community and audience going to grow when you are preventing it. Yes i can see you want the skin for yourself i get that. I think we should have a good model for every bike (almost there) and the stock skin for that year for each bike (close). I prefer stocks graphics most of the time there is very few custom skins i like.

i don't see why this annoys you. you get most of the stuff anyways...Checkerz448 wrote: Not speaking about you or works in progress. Speaking about stuff that is done and kept private, or "nearly done, but never finishing, but good enough for some people" stuff.
It's just annoying. Not speaking about anyone in particular. I see it all the time.

Because I want to see the community grow. It would sure suck to roll in here new and see all this cool stuff, and keep hearing, "that's private, you can't have it." Sure, I'm lucky, a lot of people have been gracious to share with me their 'private' stuff. I respect their wishes and keep it that way... but it sucks it can't just be public.mxracer118 wrote:i don't see why this annoys you. you get most of the stuff anyways...Checkerz448 wrote: Not speaking about you or works in progress. true but if you think about it most private skins are on models that are not released, and thats just cause they are not finished.

Re: Pole: Private Skins vs. No Private Skins
I think the thread sucks the way was written, but the debate should be brought up.
And as far as the models not being released because they aren't done... Sure they are released, just not to everyone, that's where I call BS. If it's 'good enough' for the few that have it, and better than anything else out there, and the creator doesn't plan to finish it... then it should've been shared BY THE CREATOR if you ask me.
It IS AND SHOULD BE the CREATORS CHOICE, but the creator should think about their choices if you ask me...

Re: Pole: Private Skins vs. No Private Skins
Can someone explain to me the motivation and reasoning behind keeping your gear/model private if it's done, or you've determined it's as done as it's gonna get?
I understand if it's not finished. That's one thing. And I totally understand that.
I also agree, the original post on this thread is horsesh1t, but it is a valid topic of discussion.
I personally agree with checkerz on this. My interest is in progressing this community. That's why I release all my .psd files and other source files, when I am done with a project.
On the other hand, if those got out before I was done with the project, I'd be ROYALLY PISSED OFF about it. So again, I totally get keeping it private till it's done.
