I'm really disapointed too of Beaumont 4th place because I know he spends a lot of time on this track because:
-he didn't know how editor exactly worked
-he tried to make the track real(jumps,disp...)
-he simplified it for "beginners"(trust me, he wanted to make it more jumpy but I think there is now a good flow.)
-he made it original(nightime, even if some players couldn't see well,I can tell you that on my screen, it's really good!)
-he made the objects the best as he could to be under 40 000 poly(besides, it's a good point.)
I think the he wasn't as difficult as it looks but like in real, you have to train on that track to be "good". That game is supposed to be a simulation and I wonder which track is more realistic than beaumont mx09?!
For judging system, I think just pick the best track(or the track you prefer) is a good thing but I also think that judges could be good. So why do not do a 50/50 vote(judges vote and do a rankin and people too and with a point system, the combination of those 2 make the results)?

Im really not trying to be a pain in the ass and picking you post to bits and I also agree the Beaumont should have been higher, however, of the points you made the other tracks did these also.

All the tracks in the top 4:
Did have very realistic jump sizes
Were relatively easy for intermediate-beginners. To be fair I don't think Beaumont would be good for beginners because they cant see where they are going very well. Its not a bad thing! but I wouldn't base an argument on it being good for beginners
All the tracks were original in there own right visually, displacement map, textures, objects, setting etc..
All of the tracks used 40,000 polys. Tt was a rule of the contest, everyone used it, stuck to it and made the best of the available resources

Again I really did like Beaumont and was my highest score along with another two tracks (I know I really could not decide)

Yeah that could work. Basically having the judges have a higher weighted vote? Deciding who is "good enough" to be a judge would be a very tricky and possibly sensitive task though

Deal with it people.

Congrats to DDMX and Wilson!!!!

Honestly the more I think about it the more disappointed I am by this thread.

I spent like 100 hours, with a wife who was 9 months pregant, had a kid a week before the duedate, worked on my track primary between the hours of 10 pm and 2 am, have a full time job and a 3 year old at home...and the final result of this contest is a bunch of pussy's who couldn't be bothered to enter (or for christ sakes, even VOTE) bitching about how the voting went.

If I may:

IF YOU DIDN'T ENTER A TRACK IN THIS CONTEST, STFU WITH THE BITCHING ABOUT THE VOTING.

I guarentee you everyone with the balls to put their heart into a track for this contest dosen't care where they placed or if people voted 1's for them.

Get a F'in clue.
I hope this isn't directed towards me, as, I think I'm the only one that "really" did some bitching and/or complaining. Yes, technically, I didn't enter the track contest, however, I did help Chris out ALOT and we did 75% of the work between the hours of 10 PM & 2 AM. I was shocked that only 69 people took 2 mins of their day to vote on some amazing tracks. Also, I don't care that we didn't get top 4, we tried, thats all that matters.

I did not enter a track but I thank all of you that did! I am sorry that I never had a chance to vote as I have been busy and honestly missed the voting window. But here is my humble opinion. In a case like this when there is a real prize on the line. I believe that JVL and maybe 4 other long time established members of this forum should have just been judges and made the decision themselves as too who should have won. I think we all know that the results are not accurate as to which tracks are the best. But look at the bright side we now have some amazing tracks to play on and should all be thankful to the guys that took the time to make them for us.

I dont think this is a fair comment at all...

Chris - Which tracks would you have liked to have won?
I assume it would have been the top 4 tracks but in a different order as these are what people are complaining about. I will also assume you want Beaumont to be higher? The truth is people love it now because it looks great and like I said I voted it to be number 1, however, it was hard to ride. It was dark which put people off.

The general order of tracks was correct, yes people will complain that some should be higher and others lower, but the general order was as expected. If people wanted a track to be number one they should have voted. Im not ripping into people for not voting, no matter the reason, but dont then complain about the results.

lets all just get over it...

Once again congratulations to everyone that entered! You all did a great job!

It would be neat if JLV dedicated a server to running the contest tracks, 24/7 - for ... well ... ever.

Kind Regards

There would have been one more voter, but I was off by 17 minutes. jlv said it should be 5 for me, then he said it was extended an hour so I was thinking 6, must have been off by an hour though :( (for the future, can those countdown timers be used? With so many people in different time zones it's hard to just say a time and let people see what it is for them, or I'm just being lazy). To be honest I probably could have got my vote in on time but I played all of the tracks again to compare.

I voted with a combination of fun, how realistic they were, and how they looked.

Same, I just thought it was alittle to much on the imagination side instead of trying to be realistic. Focused on the whip jumps to much IMO. The sand also never got along with me.

Yeah, the sand was ridiculous. I hated the fact that he just used JLV's settings instead of playing around with his own, because JLV's sand settings need more resistance because you just drift like its ice.
