Most laptops and PCs you see from HP or gateway have all the eye-catchers, "i7! 1TB Hard Drive! 8GB RAM!"... but there are so many different manufactures out there, and HP has seemed to chosen the pretty crappy ones, while it seems that dell and lenovo, while being a bit pricier in some cases, chose the quality components.
That made sense right?

Well, maybe check your hard drive and other components then. I mean, the laptop does have some pretty decent specs. If you have a failing hard drive, then I would suggest maybe replacing it with an SSD (you may have to find an external drive to keeps all your documents and pictures in, depending on the size of the SSD) - or a regular HDD, if you want to spend a little less $\GB. If that doesn't give you the performance boost you like, then I'd probably go ahead and sell it and invest in a new one. Sorry if it seems like I've been going back and forth a bit. Maybe I haven't... who knows? I sure don't. I'm tired as hell. So.... yeah, I'm going to bed. I'll PM you my email, feel free to contact me whenever you like.Ddavis wrote:Biggest problem I had with this laptop was my keyboard malfunctions, but using an external keyboard is fine. Ah, I see.. yeah, if the budget allows, I'd say an H100 would be a good investment. It's a pretty hefty cooler, so you can get some decent clocks with it, and, who knows, maybe even have a little wiggle room (unless you're pushing it to the limits... to which I say be careful, and right ooooooooon!).squirrelboy86 wrote:I have the I-7 3930k. My current cooler cant handle very high clocks so that is why I was thinking of going with the h100. Right now I cant really overclock much without it getting to hot.

If I can replace the hard drive that would be great, but I don't know what I need to do to do that.

I'm an intel user but since he is tight on money I suggested amd since it will run just fine.Phathry25 wrote:AMD. Lol.
And devin, don't point us older guys out on sim that build computers for the game and take into consideration that some use it for other work...not everyone needs a laptop. If you are fine with running this game as shitty as it can look then by all means get yourself another shit computer that will crap out on you in a couple years. We gave you suggestions and you still find a way to beat around the bush. Good luck with getting back into racing at your age..seeing from experience I'm sure it won't be that big of a waste of money.

This post is why I have no respect for you. I'm keeping my options open on a limited budget that's why I'm undecided.Prada wrote:I'm an intel user but since he is tight on money I suggested amd since it will run just fine.Phathry25 wrote:AMD. Lol.

I don't care about e-respect, I'm just speaking the truth. Get a job, earn some money, and quit complaining.

Jesus would not approve.Ddavis wrote:How about this idea? I have $500 right now, sell my current laptop to my brother for $600 or so (He's a sucker), and buy that HP laptop for $700 or even cheaper for Black Friday, then buy a tower for $400-500.
If I were you I'd just fix the laptop I have. As far as a new one goes, I just searched newegg and it looks like there's some decent stuff for $500-$600. If you need a quick rating for a notebook GPU, try Notebookcheck's comparison.

Re: Best computer/laptop with a reasonable price
I would have to agree (although a part of me wants to disagree) with jlv. As I've been discussing back-and-forth in emails with Ddavis, this seems to be the most reasonable, price-friendly option, especially given his situation.
The part of me that wants to disagree with jlv, and I may be speaking for a lot of gents here, is that deep-seated urge inside of me to buy/see someone buy computer parts and but one sexy-ass build together.
Per example, breadcrumbs seen as new builds:

Aw yiss.
