Finally found a PC

Post by tyrm85 »

I've finally found a PC! Sure its close to almost 1 grand, BUT! I think Im making a good choice by doing that! Heres the link, Everything that I have selected to get with it is everything that I am going to buy with this pc.

I think that everything selected should be enough to run MXS fully on single player and medium on multiplayer!

Cunstructive Critisism Only Please! :)

It's not a very good choice.

1. I would go with 550-600 watts on the psu, the 450 would probably run it fine but just to be safe and account for it degrading over time.
2. Unless you plan on using a hard drive you already have, only a 64GB ssd won't be big enough.
3. Those sites are so overpriced!

Here's a system with a larger power supply, a 6850 instead of a 6450, the same processor and motherboard, a 64gb ssd, a 750gb regular hd, the same case, a disc drive/burner and RAM that's equivalent, and a CPU water cooling system that's equivalent to what you had, $1,003, that's just with a quick newegg search, you can probably get lower than that with combo deals etc.

You should still check over everything and look at other stuff to see if there are any better deals or want to replace anything though.

I did I was thinking about getting the Intel i7, but my dad has the i5 and it runs perfectly on his PC, would how many ghz's I'm running effect how fast MXS runs?

Definitely get the 2500, not the 2500k, the only difference is the on-board graphics, which doesn't matter since you're getting a graphics card anyways...

The k has an unlocked multiplier too, if you want to overclock.

In mxs the architecture and speed counts more than the amount of cores, if you have the cash get the i7, if not the i5 will work good too.

Intel has turbo-boost, which is overclocking (I believe), and I would much rather have the warranty stay in tact in case my cpu dies, then I can send it back DOA if it's within a couple months =/ But I was unaware of the multiplier... Thank you for informing me =)
But yeah Tyrm if you have an extra $90, definitely get the 2600 or 2600k, it's the i7 and would be worth it if you have a few extra bucks...

Well if my job pays well enough this year......before JLV's SX season, then I just might order all of what Yz'ed has posted and maybe eventually save up later down the road for the i7! Only one problem, I don't know how to put a PC together haha, but I'm going to tech next year to a class where you rebuild, build, and program computers! So hopefully I can find someone to put it together for me!

I wouldn't recommend getting an i7, you really blowing alot of money on nothing because:

a.No game utilizes six cores.

b. unless you're planning on doing cpu intensive stuff and I mean intensive(i.e. not mxs and most games.) you're blowing money away.

c. most people only need this type of computing power for multitasking rendering, which unless you're into modeling/films, dont get.

just my two cents

Yeah, the turbo boost bumps up the clock when it's needed, or only on the cores that it needs to if something isn't using all of the cores.

By that time new and better deals will be out, definitely check around before ordering that! In the meantime though take a loot at this http://www.pcityourself.com/choosing/introduction.php.
