Tips for a newbie?

Post by kcrabb23 »

I've had the demo for about a couple days and just got the full game. I'm decent but i really have trouble crashing in corners and whoops, seems like the front and back end slide too much. Any help would be appreciated id really like to get better at this game.

Practice, practice and practice man :) and go into bike set up play around with all the controls and find your sweet spot  .. haha, it's not gonna be a walk in the park, if you ride in real life it will help you a lot, use your real life skills and bring them into the game... it's gonna take MONTHS!!! i've been playin for over a year and now the game is very enjoyable :D you will pick up your own techniques, I have picked up a lot of movements and just things to make me a better rider, I wish you well and good luck  :D :D

Find your own way to ride, its just like real life. Everyone has there own way/style of doing things. And also watch a few tutorials on youtube.

My biggest advice would be this: fast doesn't mean hitting some crazy bubba line once during the whole race. It means hitting manageable lines every lap without crashing. As you get better, the lines that are manageable for you will get bigger. If you're starting out, just double everything and go from there.

Think about it, say a crash costs you 14 seconds. If there's a huge line you can do in a rhythm section that shaves two seconds of your laptime, you have to be able to hit it successfully 7 times for every 1 time you hit it and crash. If you can't match that ratio, it's faster to not do it.

That pretty much sums up my style. You'll never see me quading or going triple-triple into a turn. Most of the times my lines are something like 2-3-3-2 or even roll-2-2-2

Here's what I did to jump through the learning curve real quick. Ride a 125 on 03. Another thing is to learn throttle control and timing. On the 125, there are huge rhythms that are only possible if you downside the jump before perfectly. Trying these huge rhythms will teach you throttle control. You'll also learn lots of corner speed in order to do the same rhythms as the guys on 450s,.

Heh, it's funny, for me I felt the opposite was true. When I switched to the 450, I felt like I had to unlearn everything from the 250. With the 250 I was mashing the throttle and riding the crap out of it to go fast, and with the 450 I had to become a lot more methodical. Honestly, it would probably have been easier for me if 450s had been out when I started.

thanks guys for the responses! and sorry its taken me a while to write back i forgot i even started a thread :| anyways I'm trying to apply all of your guys advice and its helping out! i think my biggest problem was what someone mentioned about going for big rhythms.. I'm pretty bad at that haha. But really the whole point i got this game is because id rather learn a skill that takes months to learn than a skill that takes 2 days (mx vs atv) besides the fact that this game is 10X better.
