Rebuilding my computer

Post by suzuki98 »

I am in the process of rebuilding my computer to a gaming computer as I have a laptop for the internet and as of now I have installed a nvidia geforce gtx 550 graphics card and a 400 watt power supply what else should I get to upgrade this computer and how would I move everything from the stock hard drive to a new hard drive with all my game files and 3d max and photoshop. How would i move them to the new hard drive and what processors would I need to upgrade to make a good gaming computer.

sounds like your bulding on a budget so I would suggest an FX 4100 quad 4gb ram 1600 if posible and a 970 chipset mobo

will cost
120>FX4100 quad
35>Ram
110>motherboard

ps I have a FX4100 and I can honestly tell you i am super happy with its performance

I'm running a 4100 as well, very satisfied. You could probably also pick up a 6000 series GPU for a good price if you can find stores making room for 7000s. You're rebuilding a desktop, right?

Yea you can pick up a AM3+ motherboard pretty cheap.... Id go with Gigabyte,ASUS or MSI.... the 970 and 990x chipset boards are the lowest budget options with good proformance. If your wanting to go with the best chipset possible go with a 990FX. AMD still hasn't released a 990GX which is step down from the FX chipset. When building a new system id always go with the highest end motherboard chipset you can get which in this case is the 990FX. Your other components can be budget parts and be replaced later with higher end parts aslong as the motherboard is already capable of accepting them.
