Question: Sit/Dab

Post by Ddavis »

Do you run it on Yes or No?

Advantages of Yes - If you crash, it automatically pulls you back to your feet and it's nearly impossible to just fall over on your own.
Disadvantages of Yes - Sometimes it ruts pulls you where you don't want to go, and the timing gates sometimes push you in the direction of downed riders when you need to ride around them.

Advantages of No - More control of the bike IMO, doesn't pull you towards timing gates, more bike control in the air and in turns.
Disadvantages of No - Forget to sit down on the start and you can fall over  Sometimes easy to fall coming off jumps (Like it leans over to quick)

I've been running it on Yes since I got the game in November, but have been trying it as No, it's better for some sections but not in others. I feel like the faster guys run it on No, but I don't know how it'll be in a rF race tonight. What do you guys run?

I always use No. I believe its more stable to use Yes, but I dont really play this game to be the fastest, i love having real life crashes and mistakes. IMO the sticky sit/dab should always be set to no by default. I also dont think you should be able to use Anti-lock brakes, No dirt bikes ever came with anti-lock brakes to my knowledge. Its not a real physic when riding a dirt bike, a motorcycle yes, but not a dirt bike. You grab to much front brake, you go on your ass... period.

I for sure get alot more control in the air with it set to No. I have never tried to press sit/dab coming off of the start tho. I might need to test this out a few times.

Back when my brother and I rode supercross he had anti-lock brakes on his 250f, they're so good! I run stop wheelies on "Front wheel only" so I don't endo when I hit the front brakes

Just run what is comfortable for you, forget what the fast guys are using, they are fast because they have probably just been playing for longer and are more familiar with their setup. I doubt one toggle is the difference between being first and being midpack ...

That is my two cents at least.

When you fall over and there's a pack of downed riders ahead of you, and the timing gates won't let you go around them, that's the difference between 10th or 30th. Look at the lap times on rF, sometimes 5th place has the 20th quickest lap, and 20th has the 5th quickest lap. In race conditions I don't know what would be better since I'm the same speed with both, but I noticed it on No helps in tight sections at lower speeds.

I'm confused? Are you talking about "dab when stopped" or "sticky sit/dab"?

If you have dabbed when stopped on NO and sticky dab on yes, you will fall over if you're stopped and standing up. I personally run dabbed when stopped = NO and sticky = YES.

Also, I believe there is an anti-lock option because you can't 'feel' the front end start to lock up like you would be able to in real life, I don't know if that's why jlv implemented that into the game or not, but that's my opinion.

When you have it set to Yes, your rider automatically sits upright when you crash, so sometimes in turns if it thinks you're going off track it will turn you towards the center of the track, like a force field around the track IMO. Just not realistic so I have it set as No now, just had to change my clutch button to a different spot to make it feel right.
