Great computer: Strange performance from game

Post by Cameronmx9 »

I've noticed that I get really strange performance issues from the game. Here's my PC setup:

Case: Antec 902 V3 Black
MoBo: M489GTD Pro
CPU: AMD x6 1055t (OC 4.0)
Cooler: Corsair Hydro H50
Ram: 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws
GPU: EVGA GTX 660
PSU: RaidMax 730w
Hard Drives: Intel 40gb SSD, (2) 1TB WD Black Caviar, 500gb WD Blue Caviar
Monitors: (2) Dell 20.1", Asus 1080p 24"
Mouse: Razer Naga
Keyboard: Logitech Bluetooth
Other: Windows 7 Ultimate, Sentry LED fan controller, Media-Card Reader, Logitech speakers and subwoofer, Lots of LED lights!

It performs great on ultra settings with nearly every game I play. Here's the issue with this game. I watch my widgets that provide details about my cpu, ram, and video card. While playing, I notice that the game relies very heavily on my processor, and nearly on only one core. It also eats alot of ram, but hardly uses my video card. The card's usage only goes up to 10-12%, which is really weird. Most of the games I play with ultra settings use atleast 50% at all times. Here's a screenshot of how I have the graphics setup in the game.

Does anyone have any tips for me? All of the tracks run completely smooth except for a few that are kinda bumpy.

Welcome to MXS.

The advanced graphics would help.

Sorry for being an idiot and posting the wrong screen. Here's the right one:

You don't need 1024x1024. Most of the textures are only 512x512. Second, 1000 roost? Do you want to not see anything? Use Shaders/Copy as well.

Would anyone mind if I limited the advanced settings to reasonable values unless you put --allow-ridiculous-settings on the command line?

Not sure if there is sarcasm there or not... I was just wondering why the game barely uses my gtx 660. :?:

LOL. You never posted how much RAM your GTX660 has. Sounds like you're using too much of it to my untrained eye. 1024x1024 ground tex is a lot.

It's a 2gb card.

How much is the game using then? It's displayed when the track finishes loading.

No sarcasm. I get a lot of people 'maxing out' their graphics and then wondering why it doesn't work well. If I limited it to the high detail presets most people wouldn't know the difference. Another option would be to remove the advanced settings entirely.

I've noticed I can play games like crysis and other very high detail games at ultra graphics no problem but my PC has a much harder time playing MXS. Though I still play max graphics.

That's why I'm thinking of getting rid of the advanced settings. The highest settings are just slower and barely look different at normal zoom levels.

Please don't get rid of the max settings :( its the idiots that try and run them on mid level PC's that need to turn their graphics down :/
