Help with the RFG Nationals

Post by Hondarider77f »

Ok, so I made it into the 450 main tonight, who knows how my race could've gone, but this is how it went.

Nothing but 8fps for the first lap, then it went up to 10 for most of the second and back to 8 in some sections. I simply can't play with that bad of screen rate. I don't have this problem in any other races but the RFG races, probably because of all the riders.

Anyways, I ended up quitting, because i couldn't ride straight and knew i'd end up hitting a leader, so I "took one for the team" and left.

What I need to know is how to fix this. I can't afford stuff for my computer, as my money goes to real life racing. What do I do? My computer is a 2012 gateway, I would think it could handle this OK. And I run my settings pretty low, no roost at all, no reflections or shaders, 64x64 terrain, and the sliders are down pretty low, with model geometric detail at 2.00. Anyone have some insight?

The only way is to either get performance parts for your PC or get an entirely new PC.

To better pin point what the issue(s) might be, you need to post the specs of your system. CPU, RAM, GPU, power supply are the ones I'd be most interested in knowing.
I get money can be better spent elsewhere but I paid like 650 total for my system, gpu, power supply and average 90 FPS on a 40 man gate with settings not full but pretty dam high. So a decent system on a fairly low budget can be done.

I've always left the 3D settings the same and just dialed back the resolution a factor or two and...boom! Pixelated smoothness.

Intel Core i3 dual core, 3.10 ghz, 6gb DDR3 ram, Intel HD graphics card (doesn't say any other info), and a 300W power supply.

This is my computer, minus windows 8.

It's your On board graphics that are killing you. You need to upgrade your vid card and with will most likely require you to upgrade your power supply as well. 300w isn't going to run much of anything. $200 is probably the bare minimum you are going to spend to get a card and PS new that will do what you're looking for. But if you look on classified's you should be able to get something more for less. Just be sure you can test it out before you buy used is all.

A GT 640 would be way faster than the Intel HD graphics and probably just barely get by at 300 watts.

Thanks guys! Will look into it, especially the GT640, considering i wouldn't need a new power supply.

Im honestly surprised that my laptop can run RFG smoothly. Its a Toshiba Tecra laptop Intel Centrino Pro 2.2ghz and a nVidia graphics card that is meant for a notebook computer. I can run with minimum lag on high fps graphics. No one ever believes i can race with those specs haha.

The Nvidia card is a huge help. What GPU is it? Dedicated memory or shared?
