Controls

Post by Metalspine »

I have tried the 1.8 demo and am using a 360 controller. I've tried with both physics settings and I have no idea how these guys are whipping or even controlling the bike like I've seen on youtube videos. Is the Demo completely different from the actual full version? Do I need to adjust anything in the control settings to get a playable game?

The physics are exactly the same. Make sure you turn off "Arcade Physics" in the bike setup menu.

Metalspine, I will say this. If you've been using arcade physics, you will hate your life for a while when you turn regular physics on. Practice makes perfect, so just keep trying. Put your stability at 100 and drop it as you get clean laps.

Also you need to heavily practice.. over and over, lap after lap, race after race. i've been playing 1 year and im still 10 seconds off the fastest guy!! this game is HARD. lol

i also forgot to add, you need to change your stability to a low level such as 20, thats what i run.

thx for the feedback....just seems like the bike turns the opposite way when im trying to corner.. I'll try to mess with the stability setting.. I did turn arcade off as I saw that's the way to play. I'll repost soon if I get the hang of it. I love mx and this game looks badass.

I'm kinda getting better. The way the bike pitches forward is really unrealistic to me as a rider because in real life you let off in the air and idk if the advanced stability settings can fix this at all I'd be interested to hear what settings exactly work the best with the xbox controller in particular. Also .. do you guys actually shift or do you use automatic shifting?

Pull back on the lip and use manual shifting. Try hitting the jump one gear higher than you are now, that helps too.

I wouldn't worry too much about setup (advanced setup/bike setup) just try to get the feel for it and slowly lower you stability until you get down to 35-40. Then you can start trying out some setups but basically every setup posted will be 20 or less when compared with the stability slider. The slider controls the adv. stability menu and if you tweak in the adv. stability dont use the slider it will reset everything. I have found that suspension setting and adv. stability sort of go together. You cant take a suspension that feels good with its adv. stability and use it with a different adv. stability...It usually feels weird.

Just keep doing laps, focus on being consistent and speed will come.

SMR hit it on the head, i cannot remember who it was but when i started out with this game a year ago someone said to me "you'll hate this game before you love it" and that is so true.. the frustration i went thru falling off every lap and being slow as shit.. ha ha! just keep riding and getting the feel of the game mate.
I note worth taking tho.. i started out on AUTO transmission, i made the switch to MANUAL about a week ago and i only wish i just started on MANUAL to begin with, its much much easier to control the bike. also helps massively as you can engine brake, i found auto just rolls me into corners in like 5th gear or if you are panic revving your bike over a triple or huge jump it will keep changing up gear so when you land and have to corner right away its in say 4th/5th which is way way to much momentum to carry into a corner. This is just my experiences and does not reflect that of everyone else so hopefully it will help you, i recommend you check out Tyskorn's suspension setup, keep your stability the way it is but choose his suspension, that helped me out so much.
