Iracing is a decent game... way too expensive and the physics aren't that great to me, but they are getting better. Rfactor/Rfactor 2 are great... you would probably get the best bang for you buck with Rfactor, considering all the downloadable content... Doesn't hurt to try both for yourself.

i cannot believe you are comparing iRacing and rFactor in terms of realism...

x2

iRacing is in its own league. The more appropriate poll would be Assetto Corsa vs. rFactor.

iRacing > All

rFactor2 is worse than rFactor somehow. rFactor was great, in 2005 when it came out.

If you're looking for quality racing iRacing is the only option. If you want to play by yourself casually, and occasionally online then go for Assetto Corsa.

I fixed it for you! The driving physics in AC is way beyond iRacing.

I am happy with rfactor 2, I havnt tried I racing yet so I cant vote. but im a casual car sim racer that doesn't do any specific online races. I just log on and have a lobby race every now and again and the one off $88 dollar fee was great!! Also its sort of like mxs how it keeps getting updated for free. I wanna try Assetto Corsa too ,but my wife got me gran turismo 6 for Christmas and after playing r factor 2 it felt like going from mxsim to fim mud lol....... but ive still been having fun getting licences ect on it (brings back memorys of those first gran turismo games that I spent so many hours on)

Well, i've been playing for like 2 months iRacing now... and i don't have the feeling that i want to play it anymore, i've spent 120euros and I see that i can't race anywhere... and i don't feel like i want to waste more money on it.
The racing system it's great to me, you always have somewhere to race with its qualifying, warmup race and such, people races very clean as it affects SR. But by the same way, it's frustrating to just think on doing a race with out any incident so you don't lose SR, i've seen people just going slow starting from the pits to get promoted earlyer... and i don't find it funny.
I've not play to much Rfactor 2 tho, but the phisics aren't as bad as you are saying... Considering that it costs just 42€, and you have a ton of downloadable content... it's worth buying it. Maybe iRacing gives you a better racing experience, but it's way to expensive, to me atleast.
So i'd say if you don't mind to waste a lot of money go for iRacing, if you want to save some money go for rFactor2.
Also there are a lot of leagues for Rfactor 2 if you search on internet.
Hope that helped :P
pd: Sorry for all those iRacing fans, but that's my point of view hehe

This pretty much sums it up. I calculated that I've spent over $800 on iRacing in the last two years. However, I play almost every day just like sim. To me its worth it, but to other people it definitely isn't.

In some ways I agree with you. AC has fantastic physics until you hit another car. That's what ruins it for me.

The bottom line is if you want quality of cars, tracks, customer service, etc, go for iRacing. If you want tons of tracks and cars but not in very high detail, go for rFactor or Assetto Corsa.

I should post the wat? Meme for that last comment Robert. So ignorant. AC's tracks are also laser scanned, and you also drive on that point cloud. The more you know....

If you're looking for a decent racing game for cheap Game Stockcar 2013 is the cats meow. It's $25 or $30. Looks better then rF2 even though it's rF1 based. Feels amazing and has some kickass cars. Plus all the rF mods work in it if you know how to work a computer, some are available already converted. Not much for online play though. In sure you can find some leagues if you wanted.

rFactor has dirt and street, so there's that. I've found that if a game has less realism, it's not a big deal to get past it and just race in it. If there's lots of people online playing it and it's fun, FUCK what other people think or say.

Iracing is the only option I've been playing it for four years now and it's the only one the gives me a similar feeling to racing a real car. You really have to work at it and practice alot to get fast. Alot of people think you can just go balls out fast out of the box so they knock the game for not being right. Yes, it can get expensive but it is worth it. Don't get a budget wheel you'll lose alot of feel while racing. I suggest getting a three month membership and form you opinion over those three months.
