Handle Bars

Post by Sonnette »

Good day Gents,

here is my question after using the search function i found nothing absolute usable about this.
So is someone using Handle Bar controls like the Thrustmaster Freestyle Bike or similar ones? If so is it worth it to get some or not. Basicly I was tryin to find some on the net which is pretty tough since they are no longer sold in the stores but with bit of luck you can get some used ones. But before buying some I just wanted to make sure that they are workable within the game.
Thanks for the answeres in Advance and sorry for my english it is not nativ :)

Kind Regards

Sonnette

I can ride my bike with no handlebars... no handlebars... no handlebars...

Anyway, no, I just use a Xbox 360 controller. It works really good. I'd save your money on the handlebars, it'd probably be worse than a controller.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Basicly I use a controller at this point in time as well. But wanted to know some experiences of users who use a Handlebar kind of Interface.

Kind Regards

I have never used the handle bar set up. I also use the xbox360 controller. I just had to comment and say I wish everyone on this forum was as polite as you in your posts. Thanks for that. 8)

I just Googled those handlebars, and it looks pretty cool! Unlike everyone else here, I don't use a console-style controller, but I'm instead recycling my flight-sim gear. I've found that my Saitek X-52 fighter joystick-and-throttle setup gives me a ton of control over the bike, which helps contribute to smooth riding and throttle control.

Good Evening gentlemen,

Hmm I may try this as well since I got basicly same joystick here ( as well for Flightsims, mostly Open Falcon or Arma 2) but never thought about using it for Mxsimulator. But I guess it could be an enhancement to use these Handle bar type controlers since it would be sort more natural movement in comparsion to the controller typ interfaces. Could make riding bit easier for me. Like said above if someone is using one just let me know about if it is worth it.

Kind Regards

Depends on how in dept you want to go, I use a controller and I'm more than satisfied. With the handle bars theres no way to lean but they may have buttons for shifting and rear brake. Maybe, don't own one so I can't say.

Speaking of really in-depth control setups, I wonder if anyone has ever made a total full-motion dirtbike simulator. One where you get on a mockup bike with handlebars, shifter, and all that just in the right place, and are surrounded 360 degrees by the virtual environment, and where the forces of riding (acceleration, jumping, leaning, etc.) are simulated by the facility. If it hasn't been done, I say someone should bloody well do it! Heck, there are people who make full-scale Boeing 747 cockpits with proper instrumentation and everything to use with Microsoft Flight Simulator, why not with MX Simulator? Get on it, guys! :x

I always thought of that, but I don't think anyone has done it yet. Would be awesome though...

i kinda think thats what real dirt bikes are for :? i think its a overkill for a video game when you could go ride for real

But it would be like riding a real bike on tracks you would never be able to ride on. Or if the weather sucks or something you can play MXS and still feel like you are riding a real bike. I don't think this would ever happen though, not anytime soon at least.

I've thought about something similar. It would cost WAY too much though. I want something with force feedback so you get kicked a little while going over bracking bumps and stuff like that. Now that would be cool. :D

I mistakenly believed i was in one of the aforementioned simulators last Sunday. It was so realistic. I realized i wasn't when breaking my collarbone actually hurt...
