xbox controller vs. ps3?
Probably been debated in the past but Im going to ask anyways. I am using a ps3 controller now because its what I had already. But I see alot of guys use xbox instead. As far as analogs go, are they about the same sensitivity or is one smoother than the other?
Also, on the triggers, are the xbox triggers easier to "feather" than the ps3's? Id like to beable to ease the throttle alot more than I can now. But I dont want to give up the nice sensitivity of the analogs to do it.
Im asking because I have enough coin to run to walmart for a wired xbox (microsoft of course) control but only if it is a very good possibility of being an upgrade.
I was going to start off with an xbox controller but just decied to add an extension to my R2 which helped a little but I almost feel like its limiting progression for me.

Xbox is way better IMO. Triggers have more travel and the sticks have a little less travel and are easier to keep your finger on since the top has a dish rather than being round on top like the PS3. Get a wired one, it is plug and play basically. Much easier to deal with than the dongle and a wireless one plus no more having to charge or replace batteries.

Ok thanks. I'll go wired for sure. You dont have to use Motioninjoy either do you with an xbox controller?

No, windows has built in drivers for the wired controller being a Microsoft product and all.

Re: xbox controller vs. ps3?
I recently bought a PowerA PS3 controller. lovin it. Much better than my Xbox controller. Controller is the same layout as a 360 controller which i like, but the triggers are axis so I can use them both at the same time if I want. I like the $30 price tag most of all though. I've had nothing but problems with all my 360 controllers. No lie I've gone through 5 in the last 3 months. Not because they stopper working or were broken, but because every single one I bought had bad stick drift of the left analog and the left trigger ( my front brake) would randomly stop working when it wanted to. bit of a bitch when you're hauling ass into a corner thinking you can stop.....

Re: xbox controller vs. ps3?
I gave my new xbox contoller 2 solid hours of game play last night and hated it worse when I finished than when I started. Funny ^^^you mention drift, I have the same problem! Mine veers to the left the entire time. Right trigger (throttle) doesnt seem to do anything till fully pulled either, I can feather my ps3 way more.
Atleast I gave it a try I guess. Back to ps3 control for me. I did see the powerA ps3 controller though. Gideon, how are the analogs, are they stiff at all or comparable to genuine xbox/ps3's?

Re: xbox controller vs. ps3?
My old controller drifted to the left slightly, so I bought a new one. This one drifts nearly as bad if you ease the stick back into center. I found it was easier to adjust the deadzone for MX Sim rather than keep buying controllers.

Lol, 360 controllers are so shitty for some people and good for others. I've had both in the past, but the 360 controller I have now I have been using for about 4 years; she's a tank.

Re: xbox controller vs. ps3?
The analogs arent bad at all. It's odd cause Ive had stick drift with every xbox controller I've ever had. Some right out of the box, others after a week or so. I spent like $70 on a PowerA Xbox tourney controller and it did the same shit. My new controller is going on 2 months now and no probs at all. No stick drift no non working brakes. There are fixes for stick drift on the 360 controllers but I'll be damned if I gotta pay $50 for a new controller and mod it right out of the box. Screw that. Oh and for some reason I thought I paid more than I did. It was $20. Of course. even in calibration you could see it drift.SMR 510RR wrote:Did you calibrate it?

Yes same here. Not a huge deal to me though, I didnt really love the layout as much as my ps3 personally so Im just going to stick with it. Glad I tried it though so I know now.
