I've had this problem since I bought the game. As you can see, objects on the rider (goggles mainly) and on the bike and even track, seem to fight for visibility. That's the only way I could explain it. But, anyway, I videoed it and here it is. It's so annoying because I'm trying to make edits and it's just an absolute annoyance. I'm considering just quitting altogether because editing used to be fun, but now I want to make them clean etc. This just makes it impossible. Any solutions will be much appreciated.

You guys might think it's really stupid, but this annoys me so much, and I shouldn't have to put up with it. I don't know if it's a game malfunction or my end, but either way, no-one seems to know what it is nor how to fix it.
What actually is this?

That is strange. What settings are you using for advance graphics setup and are you running the latest drivers for your video card?

Re: What actually is this?
Just downloaded latest drivers, I will post results in the morning as I have to restart my computer for effects to take place and it's 2AM. Please post your 'Advanced Graphic Settings' in like a 40 man event and I'll cop those when I wake up.
Ciao people. Good luck to everyone racing Arlington tomorrow!

If it's z-fighting, a higher precision depth buffer might help. Try the following exe and add --zdepth 24 to your command line args. Normally the game asks for a 16 bit Z buffer.

Re: What actually is this?
Thanks for the help, I have the snapshot, but what are command line args?

Right click the shortcut you start the game with and choose "properties". Add a space and --zdepth 24 to the end of the target field.

Every build gets a name like that. I don't usually announce them if it's a tiny change like this though.

Re: What actually is this?
JLV, did everything you said, seems it has made a difference but not a big one. From a fair distance I still can't see numbers etc. Terrain objects still flicker and it's really annoying. I read up on it and it seems there's no way to completely remove the z-fighting but just reduce it. I have no idea what to do next...

Re: What actually is this?
Another way to increase the Z precision is to move the near and far clip planes closer together. You can adjust it in the track's lighting file by setting "near_plane" and "far_plane". The default is .25 near and 5000 far. You could try 1 near and 2000 far to make the depth test a little more accurate. I believe moving the near plane out makes a bigger difference than moving the far plane in. Normally it has to be pretty close so it won't clip the rider/bike, but for anything but first person views you could safely move the near plane out pretty far.
