just got a new laptop
i purchased an asus g51vx-rx05 last week. it supposed to be a somewhat gaming laptop. ive looked around on the internet and most people have great things to say about it. there syaing they were running games like cod WaW and farcry2 at full blast. after playing quite a bit of mxsim on it, it runs fairly good. havent checked but i kno im getting a solid fps. only thing that is bothering me is it kind of glitches and hangs up for a split second every now and then. everything ive done to counter that has no effect. (ive tried lowering the roost frequencey, lowering the graphic settings, even riding alone) idk what else to do or what i can do. any ideas?

You're not running in windowed mode by any chance? If it can run WaW, then it sure as shootin can run mxs.

Remember that laptops need air!
My laptop isnt that good but when i deleted the not needet files and but something under the maching to raise it (so the air thingy can spin freeyer and it doest heat too mutch) But the point is, if my computer runs it. yours will definetly run it if its new, mines like 2 years old and still i cant play wow but the mx runs terifick (exsept with more taht 5 bots or over 8 online players, then setting must be lower)

Make sure you don't have something running in the background that is taking up resources. I bought a new laptop and installed WoW and it hiccuped like every few seconds like clockwork. Forget what the program was but it was something that came with the computer. May want to check.

Thats what my vista work machine is like. And the damn thing has like 8 gigs of ram...that's ridiculous usage if you ask me.
Anyway, the current snapshot lags when roost hits the camera. Is that what you are experiencing???

I use a Dell XPS M1710, and its like 2 yrs old. It works really well with this game, I've never had it "stutter" when too many ppl are online. The only problem is the heat, but other than that, it runs fine. Oh, and when other programs are running, like Limewire or something that take a bit of usage from the computer, really slows the game down.

nah it isnt that. cuz my other computer kind of did that. i even lowered the roost frequency to see if it would change anything but nope.Garasaki wrote:Thats what my vista work machine is like. And the damn thing has like 8 gigs of ram...that's ridiculous usage if you ask me.

Re: just got a new laptop
80 processes is definitely too high for a normal home computer. I mean too high by having that many processes, not that the computer itself can't handle it.
If you go into the task manager and show processes for all users, it allows you to look at all the processes that are running. You can go through the list and end ones you know you don't need.
You can also go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>Run and type msconfig then hit enter. In the new window go to the startup tab and uncheck any program you know you don't need when the computer starts up. Always have your anti virus program start at boot up though.

Re: just got a new laptop
If you want, you can post a screenshot of your task manager so we can see what processes there are, and which are safe to end.
