yFMX, DDMX and I have all come across this problems whilst trying to render shadows for our tracks. What is causing it? yFMX just tried resizing all the textures to 1 pixel, but still got the error.
Whatever it is, how the hell does it take up 2GB (or whatever) of virtual memory?
The only way I've gotten around the error was splitting the statues file into 2.

Did you edit out the original tree models? Those things use an insane amount of geometry. Each leaf gets its own polygon.

Just throwing this out there:
I downloaded PovRay yesterday again, trying to see if I can man up and make shadows again, and it failed more miserably than my last girlfriend.
So, that being said, would anyone care to donate their services for making me shading? (I will credit them where credit is due.)
