New PC
Hi.
I'm gonna need a new gaming PC for sim pretty soon.
I do not want to build my own Becuase I'll prob forget quite a few parts.
What's a good Gaming pc, not too expensive, but I can run 40 man gate with 70fps?
Thanks.

I have no idea what "too expensive" means so here.... Will run nationals at a nice setting above 70fps and max for supercross at above 70fps so.......

Re: New PC
I would probably say fuck the 4570 and go with a 4690k, but that would also require upgrading the motherboard to a z97 chipset (I believe, I may be wrong) which can cost anywhere from $350-$500 so....

Re: New PC
You don't have to run a Z97 board and you have not looked very hard for a Z97 board if you have only seen ones that cost $350 plus. Maybe you are thinking of the new 2011-V2 X99 boards?mxsrider96 wrote:I would probably say fuck the 4570 and go with a 4690k, but that would also require upgrading the motherboard to a z97 chipset (I believe, I may be wrong) which can cost anywhere from $350-$500 so....

Re: New PC
It's not bad, but it's not great, either. You'll only need about 8GB of RAM, and the R7 250 is like the TTR125 of graphics cards. I would shop around more, but something with maybe an FX6xxx series CPU and something like a 270 would be a pretty good buy.
If you want to save some money and get exactly what you need, building is a lot easier than you probably think it is. Head to the "what's your PC" thread in Off Topic and maybe ask for some help there. Guys like Puma and SMR will be able to dial you right in.

Re: New PC
What is the top of your budget? I know you said "as cheap as possible" but in general the more you pay the better components you get in a PC. The best way to control exactly where you have invested money into your PC is to build it yourself. A step down from that is to buy from one of the many "Semi Custom" builders out there where you can pick a model and have them put a different graphics card in it or something like that. Last and least would be a off the shelf system with no customization.
Here is a decent build that I think will work better for you:
http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/AMD-FX-4 ... nfigurator
Stock Specs:
FX-4300 w/ Free upgrade to FX-6300 (6 core 3.5ghz)
AVC Liquid CPU Cooler (may upgrade this never heard of AVC but there are several options)
8gb Gskill Ripjaws X 1866
Radeon R7 250 (For $36 I would upgrade to the 250x or even higher depending on your budget, this will make a difference for gaming)
Asus R5A97 R2.0 Mobo
Standard 400w PSU (For $32 I would upgrade to a Corsair CX500 so you have a quality PSU by a known manufacture and some extra wattage incase you decide to upgrade later)
1TB nameless drive (this will be fine for now, later you can add a SSD for your Boot drive and keep this for storage)
LG DVD Drive
Windows 8.1
Total with the more expensive options I chose comes to $725 plus shipping. I think that is a fairly good deal. You are paying for the convenience of having someone put it together and warranty it for 3 years for you. At the same time, you have 1 person to call when it stops working. You get to pick everything (there are different cases, add some case lighting, whatever you want to make it yours). You get all enthusiast grade components, no generic motherboard and PSU etc. That is the biggest upside to me, these are all components you could pick up off the shelf today rather than a generic board that only has 1 PCI-e slot because they were too cheap to solder the second one on at the factory.
That is my $0.02, there are other companies. I have not ordered from any of them but look around the web, check reviews on their service and check their prices vs. each other to see who you like the best.

So i could basically pick what i would want, they would build it and ship it to me?SMR 510RR wrote:What is the top of your budget? That's pretty much how it works, but you'll pay a premium for that service and your options will be pretty limited.

Re: New PC
Yea and shipping through them seems to be a killer as far as cost. They wanted $75 to ship it to me in CA, IDK where OP is listed but that seems really expensive when if you bought all the stuff from amazon and Newegg it would be free shipping.KTM57 wrote:That's pretty much how it works, but you'll pay a premium for that service and your options will be pretty limited.

I didn't mean the mobo alone is $350+, I meant the mobo+4690kSMR 510RR wrote:You don't have to run a Z97 board and you have not looked very hard for a Z97 board if you have only seen ones that cost $350 plus. Re: New PC
If money is the main issue and you are really looking for something to run Sim mainly :
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-desk ... cp=1&lp=10
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/evga-geforc ... &cp=3&lp=1
This would work just fine although you may need a higher PS but you can pick those up for $50. I get the reasoning for building your own PC but if you're looking for something to do what you've asked and stick damn near the budget you've listed then consider looking at all options. You don't need a "gaming" PC to play sim is all I'm saying.
I spent under $600 for a setup similar to this 3 years ago and it still plays all the games I want it to and I get 70+ fps on a 40 man gate and 125 on a 20 man gate in SX.

I've made this parts list and saved it so now I can just post the link and move on. This includes everything. If you want cheaper you could change the RAM from 8g to 4g and find a different power supply thats on sale for the same watts.
