New to the community!
Hey, I just thought i'd take this post as an opportunity to get to know you all. I just bought the game last night, and thought I may aswell since the MX VS ATV series is pretty much crap now adays. I'm struggling to get used to this game, but pretty much improving every second. I must say, it's easily the best motocross game out there. The graphics may not be the best, but it's still way better than anything else created.

Just start with an high stability settings and try to be consistent, you may want to try Vanderlee's setup (look for it on forum)

Yes. To add to what Phil said, use a setup, get used to it, and stick with it. If you constantly try new setups (Advanced Stability's) you'll won't improve nearly as fast as if you use on setup and get used to it.
here is the main resource to get good setups. Cheers
