Should this computer be good?

Post by Racing299 »

I've done a little research and this is what I came up with. I'm looking to run max, or very close to max graphics with 5-20 people.

Please tell me if this is way overkill, just right, or not enough. Thanks! :D

PSU: Ultra LSP Series V2 750 Watt Power Supply

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 AM3+ Motherboard

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

Processor: AMD FX-9370 Black Edition Processor

Graphics Card: MSI Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5, PCI-Express 3.0 (x16), Overclocked

Cooling: Cooler Master RR-910-HTX3-G1 Hyper TX3 CPU Cooler

That horn is the greatest technological achievement by any manufacturer in the history of offroad motorcycling. My bike is super quiet, allowing me to sneak up behind my friends and scare the shit out of them.

Isn't that the CPU that required a watercooler?

If you want to spend $200 on a processor specifically for MXS, you'll want an i5 or i7 because they're stronger as far as single-core performance goes. The Sabertooth motherboard is cool looking, but it's way overkill, especially when you're spending so much for cosmetics while running a low-tier GPU like the R9 270X. You don't need the professional version of Windows, either.

It's not just for MXS, planning on using the computer for things like photoshop, fraps, school work, and other games. And I wasn't planning on getting the professional version either, I just copied and pasted my brothers specs :P

I am a huge proponent of Intel processors in any case.

You might want to invest in a power supply from a more notable brand. EVGA has some great PSUs with an incredible warranty that lasts for 6 or 7 years IIRC.

How much RAM are you planning on having?

Overall, your parts list is incredibly lopsided. It's incredibly strange to me that anyone would want to buy AMD's finest processor and a Sabretooth motherboard for about $400 combined, then buy a sub-$200 GPU, air cool the CPU, and run everything from an off-brand PSU. Just not a common occurence. Is this a prebuilt computer?

Fully custom built by my brother. It's what he uses. Could you recommend the parts I need for a custom PC that can run Max, or close to max graphics with 5-20 people?

This is where I'd start. You can pick your case, but if you go smaller than ATX Mid, you'll need to pick out a smaller motherboard.

Ok. Thanks. How does this run the game for you? FPS wise on high graphics?

I'm interested in running that setup that you use. Does it require the liquid cooling or would a standard fan work?

Liquid cooling is not required. Wouldn't suggest copying my stuff, though. Go with a newer CPU and beefier GPU.

If you can swing a i5 and 970 I recommend it 10/10. What is your budget?
