controller setup (noob question)

Post by MrGoon22 »

New player I started playing Yesterday. 1st off Im sorry if this topic already exists, I don't know my way around these forums yet I tried searching for it but gave me nothing, and looked trough a couple of pages.
I don't shift manually yet, getting the stability down 1 step at a time... Now I am looking for a good button layout, I'd rather change it now then finding out in a couple of weeks i need to learn it all over again.
+ I'm told I should get a xbox controller I will next week. I got 2 dif settings I tried. both have their advantages for me but I don't know how it will work out when i get better at the game .

the 1 I like best is where I lean with the left analog (lean backwards forwards left right) this way I have great bike control in the air and when i start shifting i could use the right analog for this. BUT I struggle leaning forward in corners while I use that analog for leaning into corners as well. So my question is: Is there good players out there using 1 analog stick for steering and leaning or will this limit my progress in the game?

thx for ur time to help this nooby

Left stick-L/R/F/B Lean
Right trigger-Throttle
Left trigger-Front Brake
Left bumper-Clutch
Right bumper-Rear Brake
X-Shift Up
A-Sit/Dab
B-Shift Down

Other people have variations on this but using the left stick for all leaning is optimal. Turn auto shifting off now, it is easier to play with manual shifting IMO. Also, sounds like you are probably on arcade mode since you are not complaining that you can't ride at all, if so turn that off now as well.

Thank you sir! I hoped i could control all leaning with just 1 stick  I did struggle with this.. as you need to keep leaning forward but u cant keep leaning left or right.
I had the arcade physics off already a friend told me to, but he couldn't help me with the controller since he doesn't use a controller.
Been riding Time trial on alcrest and uddevalla 2012 bring my stability down 1 every 15 minutes I play. I'm looking forward to race with everyone online but for now I will keep doing time trial.
a lot of practice to do i'd only be a obstacle for the other riders, anyways thank you I will use this control setup and try to get used to shifting.

Thx Im getting better, still a long way to go but It's starting to get more enjoyable.
I did my 1st online races today im doing ok for now but id rather practice lil more offline,
anyways does everyone ride 1st person on this game? I seen a lot of videos of people doing it I haven't tried it myself.
the 3rd person works great for me but if yall advice me to play 1st person i'd rather get used to it now.
better to learn it all the right way cuy once you get used to something it's going to be hard to adapt I guess

I ride 1st but 3rd has the advantage of being able to see behind you. Most of the fast people I know ride 3rd but I just can't do it, 1st is so much more fun and now I am used to it.
