New to the MXS world
My name is Buz, and I have been doing a lot of research on this game. I have been racing MX vs ATV Unleashed on my PS3 forever, but am more into the realism and racing aspect of motocross. I am looking forward to mixing it up in the online races and series...... and also learning how to skin and model, as well as create some nice tracks. I will be on all forums to learn as much as I can with the same screen name. If you are looking for someone to take under your wing, I am right here. Haha. Hope to see you all on the track!

Re: New to the MXS world
Welcome. I'm new too (about 5 days ago bought it).
Steep learning curve but its nice to actually feel accomplished when you start to figure it out! Lots of info on the forums already if you do a bunch of searching. Hell just read half of my first few posts for 90% of newb questions/answers lol...

Re: New to the MXS world
I'm going to let you both in on a secret, before we had online or demo races I learned by watching the AI(no joke) and see there lines, breaking points, throttle, etc. Then trying to do those things. Once you get those down you'll start figureing out what you cna push and what you can't but it helps alot to watch and take notes. Now that you have online, I'd say you could get alot more things from them than what you could from the AI.
Welcome to the fourms and hope you enjoy.

Re: New to the MXS world
I have spent the last 2 hrs playing, and have started looking into setups and such. It is very difficult right out of the box, and would like to get it to where I can get around the track without going end over end. I am enjoying the realism.... just looking for help to get me going.
I was super fast on mx vs atv, the controls were not as real. Any pointers? Also, id like to download a skin or 2 from puremxs, where do I place the files etc? Eventually id like to skin up a bike of my own. Thanks for the help!
Very respectfully,
Buz

MVA is very different than MXS, so practice and forget pretty well everything you knew from MVA. As far as skins, check the link.

Re: New to the MXS world
Okay, found some settings that are working okay for me. Still having a few problems as I raced on the multiplayer server. My bike doesn't seem to respond to leaning back inputs in air.... it nosedives a lot. Also, ill get on a pretty good roll, and all of a sudden my bike wipes out off a jump, even landing it perfect and straight. Any help with those bwould be great! Thx a ton.

Re: New to the MXS world
Refering to your nosediving problem. Make sure you are holding the gas off the lip and leaning back if necessary. If that isnt working out for you, go into game, then bike settings, then suspension and gear, then go down to the bottom and turn your rider mass distribution to 50. That will add more effect to you leaning back. hope i could help.

Alrighty...... got a bunch of stuff downloaded, however my DDMX skins are not working due to the game not being able to find the DDMX rider model. I have downloaded the rider model also. Can anyone help?

Re: New to the MXS world
Theres DDMX and DDMXv2 riders. Make you you're using the right one.
If you lean back in the air, the rider has to push the bars forward in order to move back. (newtons law?) Anyways, think of it as a pull back button, pull back on the lip, and then what happens in the air happens, kinda like real life...gee.

Re: New to the MXS world
So, pull back on face of jump, and then don't touch in air? Cool. I have started practicing scrubs, and have had a hard time landing most straight. Mostly if I am hitting a jump out of a turn, and my bike gets kicked out just a little. Any tips?
Also, my setup is feeling pretty good, but still very slick feeling. Turns still feel like I can't lean far enough without it washing out.. here are my settings as of now if anyone can spot anything that might be causing it. Thanks a ton in advance.

Re: New to the MXS world
Try increasing both rider springs. though mainly forward will have an effect on the leaning back, increasing vertical spring will help the rider be more loose/flow with bumps and landings

Those who possess strength have also known adversity.
