Now some of you are going to scoff at this and say "oh that isn't true!" while others will attest to the success of this technique. Over and over again I have tested this and it works nearly every time. Once in a while you'll get boned out of your top three start, but not very often.
Unfortunately, now that I am telling what I do it may not be as effective as it has been, therefore I am tempted to keep wraps on this little know secret. However it's almost too simple and obvious while being consistently effective in most starts. If you are the first to read this, hurry up and go try it online before everyone is doing it and you'll be somewhat impressed and amused at how often this actually works, well that is until everyone is online giving it a try. Now, if you've read this far into the post and me hyping up this technique well, you kinda deserve to hear the truth about how this works. Lets begin with a scenario of what happens to me during an online multiplayer race. Everyone is sitting on the line waiting for the flagger to proceed off the track, other bikes are revving getting ready to blast off the line and get that holeshot, they are leaning forward, picking the right gear, brap brap braaapping the throttle and basically making a hell of a racket. Heres the key, stay calm. Do not rev the bike, breath and relax. If it makes you feel better go ahead and give the throttle a few taps so the guy next to you knows you are going to race. The gate drops, everyone drops clutch and hauls butt. Count to three. Pull the clutch and bring your RPMS up and proceed towards the first turn. When half the field piles in the first turn proceed past them picking your way through the carnage tactfully. Once you are in the clear, nail it to the next turn but slow down in plenty of time so you can ride right past the riders who wash or spin out in the second turn. By this time you should either be in the lead or the top three position.
Now go try it! hurry, cause now that the cat is out it wont be long.
sincerely, JP37R

On some tracks its easy to tell when the gate will drop, just have a look at the flagger, this is what I do on some of them, i just take 3 steps back from the gate, look at the flagger, and as soon as he's 1mm before the spot where the gate drops, i release clutch and get the holeshot:P doesn't work on all tracks tho:P
