suspension and gearing

in the option to change your suspension setting, how does each item effect the bike. basically i have just started out in this game and don't really know what a good starting setting would be for backwood sx track

less rebound - the less likely you are to do an unintentional frontflip

rebound: controls how fast your shock or fork will go and went
compression: this controls how many weight u need to get the fork working

sorry, thats the best i can do :S
my english words are not specific so i dont knoe how to explain it, i know perfectly how a fork works but i cannot explain it in english so well
