Post by jlv »

elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19802 is running a new version of mxserver with better bit rate control. Please give it a test if you can.

Yes, there are 35 slots open.

Last second update here, FactoryBR21 is going to be using this server for a Brazilian race until 7:30 eastern time. So just Brazilians until then!

He means there will be less lag caused by too much bandwidth usage. If you have a shite computer, you are still going to "lag" (I use " because what you really have is poor framerate, and is in no way related to the proper use of the term lag)

Sorry to correct you dj, but when your on line it is lag and when you offline and still getting "lag", then its frame rate issues.

The proper use of lag is related to delay in server-client communication. But many people use the term lag for poor framerate, which isn't the proper use of the word. People are thinking that this is going to solve their framerate issues, which is not the case.

o o I see what you mean. if you have poor framerate in single player, forget about playing online.

That's not what he is saying at all. Say your framerate offline with AI is CPU limited, online play actually uses less CPU since it isn't calculating the physics for all the bikes on the track. So offline w/ 5 AI riders VS online with 5 players you would get better framerates online. If you play all alone offline and your framerate is GPU limited then don't even bother to play online.

Yeah, lag is a network thing, the time it takes for your signal to go there and bounce back, stuff like that.

Speaking of temporal stuff, it says my ping is zero when on the server whereas before it would always be around 70ms. I dunno if this is a feature or a bug but I thought it was weird. The offset is still normal at like -7ms, or 7ms, whichever it was.

Sounds good to me. How about 2 ten minutes motos at Budds Creek tomorrow at 9 EDT? Might be good for replacing the ancient video on the main page.
