Changes:
  • Added "land damping ramp up" to advanced stability settings.
The ramp up is in seconds, so use 0 for instant ramp up and .5 for really slow ramp up.

Windows users: https://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mx-2021-03-31-1566.exe
Linux users: https://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mxbin-2021-03-31-1566

Replace mx.exe or mxbin with one of the above files. The default location for mx.exe should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\MX Simulator". I'd keep a backup of the originals since these aren't well tested.

THANK YOU!!!

After some testing, game is confirmed broke though. I'm going stupidly fast with how the current rF tracks are built. I think this is going to really allow for more realistic tracks in competitive racing.

I think this is sick, not only does it eliminate chatter, it can reduce braking bump landing damping. I find it more realistic that you're able to maneuver the bike a little more in braking bumps.

its saying that if you have it on 0, it stays how it was but if you put it on 0.5 it wil take half a second for you suspension to rebound
SO if you put it on 0.1, it gives you much smoother rebound in chatter or braking bumps.

Was there ever a fix for the controller issue in the previous snapshots? I didn't download any of the previous snapshots because of those issues but this one sounded too good to pass up. Now my controller doesn't work :D

This isn't for suspension it's for stability... The suspension still works the same, you are just feeling like your suspension got bound and sent you straight off of a bump when the factor was activated.

What this does is delay your stability from fully activating your landing dampening factor. So you essentially will have the ability to make smaller adjustments going through bumps at higher speed instead of feeling locked out from movement if you get an unexpected kick and trying to save it by making exaggerated movements.

What do you mean by 'more realistic tracks' Tanner? More forced lines and tighter ruts or what exactly? From an erode standpoint, we can't go much smaller at all really while not becoming more jagged.

I initially had issues with controller. Solved it with going into the customize control tab and re-binding all the controls, works just fine now.

More realistic traction levels, along with smaller ruts instead of the berms we use now and call ruts. I think this setting might allow us to actually use small tight ruts, going to need a lot of testing though. I completely agree that the erode system doesnt support this, but maybe this setting will allow us to handle the chatter and jagged edges. If the setting isnt enough on its own, the optimizations jlv is planning will allow for a higher resolution track. Hopefully then the game will allow for realistic tracks without the community crying that its too hard.

To everyone having problems, just use your normal landing damping settings, then for the rampup start at 0.00 (what the old snapshot was) and work your way up click by click until you feel like you're getting the control you want in chatter and erode. This rampup setting will also allow for higher landing damping factor values because we can tune how much of that factor we get based on the terrain we are riding. We weren't previously able to run super high landing damping factors unless we cranked our steering damping to cut through the extra forces, and our bikes would lock up causing us to lose control. This forced us to run lower than ideal landing damping factor values because we had to find a balance between control and stability. This problem doesnt exist anymore, because we can tune how much damping we get based on how many steps our front tire has been off the ground for.

I honestly don't have any problems in chatter anymore, the erode feels a lot easier to ride. Even without the optimizations and higher res tracks, I think we can get away with at least something halfway close to realistic now.

Appreciate the advice. I tried snapshot and couldn’t use my controller either, figured I might need to try rebinding controls.

I don't disagree that things "feel" a bit better with chatter now, but jumping straight into tightening up ruts/etc. will backfire if they don't at least wait until visuals are optimized/improved.
