Until jlv gives his stamp of approval, I would not recommend using these mods online.
Shaders Mod
Since Feitosas Realism project was well received by the community but unfortunately modified the games memory, I set out to vibe an opengl replacement only shader mod.
You can find the mod and instructions on how to install it here: https://github.com/JSC500/mxs-shaders
Features:
- real-time sun shadows
- ambient occlusion
- HDR lighting with bloom
- height fog & sun shafts
- "normal maps" (parallax effect) for the dirt
- post processing options such as motion blur, depth of field and colour grading.
- glsl shader support to write your own custom shader (ps1 style example shader available in the github repo)
- borderless window mode (so alt-tabbing doesn't take 10 seconds anymore on HDR monitors)
- hide the cursor when racing
Known bugs as of v1.0.1:
- first person shadows feature a static helmet and wheel shadow
- it's hard to spot bumps and ruts in track sections that are completely in the shadows
- sometimes there are very dark shadow pop ins in ruts in first person
- no linux support (sorry hubbo)
Possible roadmap items:
- flood lights for stadiums
- pbr rendering
- weather effects
- custom ui

Mod Chainer
Since there are also community favorite mods like voaks MXCam: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61891 or reshade, we had a little issue because they were replacing each other.
So I vibed a chainer: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61891 (Follow installation instructions closely)
Essentially, you can feed it other opengl32.dll's and it will chain them. By nature that is very finicky, but I was able to get all 3 current mods to work in this exact order:
1. Cam mod
2. Shaders Mod
3. Reshade
Known Bugs:
- the shaders mod prevents the cam mods settings ui from being rendered. I will try to fix this with a future version of my mod, until then, you need to configure the cam mod to your liking before adding the shaders mod
Possible roadmap items:
- a gui so you don't have to move and rename the files by hand
