Question for JLV?
I just had a couple of questions
-what engine and or programming language did you use for Mx Sim? ODE, lua, so on....
-possibilities of adding shaders to the engine, and HDR.
-Would you be willing to allow others to help with certain aspects of the game like Gui, Online and a few others?
-Any progress on the rider model?

Re: Question for JLV?
It uses ODE. Whatever programming language used for ODE is used in the game. Also, shaders and HDR can be added, but the game is rendered on OpenGL 1.1. Most HDR'ish' effects, and shader support is in OpenGL 2.0. I doubt he would release the source to you to mod the game though.[/quote]ShowtimeMx wrote:I just had a couple of questions

Best leave that to him. It'd be easiest for all of us. Unless you wanted to make a completely seperate game from this, and then I'd guess you'd have to buy the source.-Would you be willing to allow others to help with certain aspects of the game like Gui, Online and a few others?
I'd like to know that too.-Any progress on the rider model?

I have already asked jlv on helping him with the game as far as coding. For certain reasons he chooses to keep it to himself. While this is respectable on his part, so much more could be done quickly with the help of other confident coders.

The programming language is C. The 3d API is OpenGL. The physics library is ODE (I use my own collision code though). I also use zlib and libpng.
No progress on the rider model. Right now I'm retexturing Budds Creek. I have four more tracks to retexture after that one.

Make sure you are texturing Budds Creek Like this-

How are you going to release the updated textures?

Re: Question for JLV?
It isn't too far off of that.

It will be an installer that installs both the newest mx.exe and a saf file with the new textures.

Oh wow, that looks great! You don't think the track dirt should be more gold though? From the pics i've seen of the track, its not really a brown track, well, not so dark anyway

Re: Question for JLV?
yeah the on track dirt looks like it needs to be lighter, and i reckon a bit more variation in the texture would be nice.

instupitious.

Re: Question for JLV?
Truthfully i wouldnt worry about texturing tracks, there are a lot of talented track creators here. If you had a better rider model I really think you would attract more people to the game. We can create tracks, models and other stuff but stuff that deals with programming and making things in the game better thats all on you, and I know personally i would like to see that stuff worked on before tracks. I think this is a great game and it has potential to be really good.jlv wrote:The programming language is C. The 3d API is OpenGL. The physics library is ODE (I use my own collision code though). Re: Question for JLV?
You might be right. The texture is from a photo from last year's national, but it does look darker in the game.

Re: Question for JLV?
Wow a little defensive DJ, I wasnt demanding JLV to do anything i just gave my opinion. no need to get upset, he said that he was working on the one and then had 4 more to go thats not almost done. and the only reason i said that i would like to see him work on the other stuff instead is the fact that we cant. Not to mention it would bring more people to the game and also more revenue for JLV.DJ wrote:He almost has the track textures done anyway, just let him be
