new sounds jlv?

Post by moorin »

could we have some better sounds, like a crisper 2 stroke sound and a 4 stroke which back fires and gargles on full throttle and a proper rev limiter like in real life?

i think that would require a lot of work and could be quite tricky. whats wrong with the rev limiter now?

a rev velometer should sound "slower" if you get what i mean,
I thought of how you could add exhaust pops and stuff, you record a pop or whateva, then you like... uuuh...
Decide when the pop should "pop", like 5 times/second @ 13000 rpms, and 1time/second @ 8000 rpms

yeh the rev limiter should be slower and more refined not like its riing your speakers apart, i think its the one thing thats letting down the game since the graphics have got better, and yeh just something like that would be good for the pops and bangs.

Right now when you hold it wfo with clutch or in the air, the rpms stays on the exact same spot. they should be going up and down( idk how many rev's.. But they should.)
But DJ told me that would be hard to change cuz the sound is based of the rpms or something.

The sounds he has at the moment are synthesized. Personally, they sound fine to me, much better than any other mx game ive played (have you heard the sounds on motocross the force, disgusting!). I'd say a lower frequency sound added over the top of the current four-stroke sound would give it more grunt. Two-strokes need more rattle, but I don't know how you'd go about that.

Also, I think idle sounds are needed. This wouldn't be too hard to do (I think), especially if you didn't synthesize it. If you recorded some idling sounds, made a loop of them, and had them fade in as the RPM approaches the idling rpm, I reckon that would sound cool.

But this should be the least of his worries right now, let him get the more important stuff done.

In replay to the message a few up saying 8 pops per second on the four stroke at 13000 RPMs. Isnt that a key sign that your valves are loose? Ive been racing a thumper for a few years now and usually when the bike starts poping alot on the top end it means ur top end is getting old or the valves need adjustment. I agree that it would be awsome if you make it more grunty but not poppy.

Four stroke noise is very complex. If you look at it in a waveform editor you'll see there is so much going on it's hard to make sense out of it. Even getting it as good as it is now was pretty tricky.

I do have an idea I want to try once I don't have more important things to do.

Well... idk what "pops" are in english, cuz I dont got english as my first language, but lets say I mean these small "explosions" that you here sometimes. Listen to Jason Lawerence's yzf when he over revs, thats the sound im talking about.
