I have a windows vista currently and it will not play games of any sort, so i have only ever been able to play mxs at friends houses. I have decided to get a new laptop. What type should i get?

well, windows vista is your operating system and it will play MXS. the OS doesnt matter that much, MXS will play on XP, Vista, or 7, and even Linux. what you need to look at are hardware specs.

something like that would run it easily. plenty of Ram, good graphics (which is a MUST for gaming), and all the processor and hard drive space youll need. in fact, its probably a bit overkill for MXS, but better to be safe than sorry.

wowowow.... since when do we use the D-E-L-L word around these parts?

honestly, if you're going for quality, DELL is not your best option. I would go for Asus or MSI, maybe Acer.

that's just my personal opinion though.

yup, pretty much. before Dell took them over i believe they were worth the price. you could really configure the system you really wanted, even brands of hardware. now its all Dell sourced parts so options are very limited. you cant even take off the liquid cooling option (which isnt really needed). i was once a big supporter of Alienware, my girl even still has her Area 51 from 2003-2004 and it still runs like a champ. i just dont believe you get the same quality anymore.

from what i have seen with my friends it works like a "champ" hes has no problems with it (touch wood) plays mxs well he does all his models and skinning from it, as well as when he got it there was no programs like what HP does, i believe its an all round solid laptop, but i will agree with you by saying its expensive

i didnt say they werent good machines. they are. i just believe that you can build a computer thats just as good, or better, for less money, and be able to have a wider choice of parts to choose from. i will agree that Alienware still does the right thing and doesnt load junk programs on the machines. thats the way all computers should come, along with full OS discs, not just "recovery" discs. although Alienware did (does?) send image disks, just as good.

no, laptops are very specifically designed to save as much space as possible. so all the parts have to fit the right way.

On some sites you can however choose several "upgrades" when you buy a laptop. like a better processor of more memory and HDD space.

but building an entire custom laptop isn't possible. not unless you are very tech savvy :P
