What's upcoming...

Post by checkerz »

Please feel free to move this if there is a better spot for it.

Just curious if you are willing to share your immediate priority list, as far as, what are the updates to expect for the next 6 months or so.

Obviously, finalizing some stuff with the sounds is high on the list with that recent update, and 450s are somewhere in the future rumor has it, but what other items are on the horizon sooner rather than later.

Second, is there anything myself, or anyone from the community can help you take on in any way?

Thanks again for all the hard work and continued support to make MXS better and better day after day.

Right now I'm writing a software decal renderer so the game can run on drivers with buggy FBO and CopyTexSubImage support. Not a sexy feature but it will save me hours every week that would have otherwise been spent helping people upgrade their drivers.

After that I'll probably try to even out the sound samples a little and then release 1.5.

After 1.5, here's my wishlist. This the order I'd prefer but if I'm short on time it might change.

terrain shaders, dynamic shadows
HDR effects
250's and 450f's
Javascript scripting via Spidermonkey
compression for animated textures, maybe Ogg Theora

I'm not sure how much of that will be done before the SX season starts but that's what I'd really like to have before then.

As far as helping, I really do appreciate what yzmxer does here. He saves me tons of time by answering questions in the help forum. If it weren't for all of the email and private messages I'd be able to get so much more done.

And the rest of that sounds epic

The javascripting. Is that for external mods? And if I can recall, weren't you planning on making an external track creator using Javascript?

I love that you are still working on this game JLV, really makes the 40 feel well spent.

Just curious, I see you have a planned list of things you want to do, and I was wondering if we were ever going to see a way to move the player rider left and right?

I feel like this should be the key focus for this game, because right now it is so true to it's name in everything besides that part. I feel like the game could be so much better if you could lean to the left and right in combination with front and forward.

Of course I don't know how to program, but I figured I'd ask.
Accomplishments: Nothing, but i almost win all races in 00, 01, 02, 03
